From Pastor Lisa: Just a quick check-in. I had surgery on Friday, and you can see from the picture that I now have lots of hardware in my wrist. Go big or go home, I guess!

Yesterday was pretty rough, but I am definitely feeling less pain today and a little bit more like myself. I’m not able to drive for the time-being, so I am going to be working from home at least through this week. I am so grateful for all your prayers and support.

What a way to start a new call! Looking forward to worshiping with you all very soon.

The Third Sunday after Pentecost reminds us that God’s grace meets us right where we are. Even when life feels messy or uncertain, Jesus invites us to trust in His love, extend mercy to others, and walk together in faith. We'll gather as brothers and sisters in Christ tomorrow at 9 a.m. in this spirit.

Pastor Lisa may lead worship tomorrow depending on how she is feeling after her surgery on Friday. If not, we will celebrate God’s grace with a Service of the Word.

The congregation meeting planned for after tomorrow’s worship has been postponed until a later date.

The altar flowers for tomorrow’s worship service are given to the Glory of God and in memory of Harry Dent by his wife Marion and his family.

Weekly Announcements for Wednesday, June 10, 2026:

Because of Pastor Lisa’s recent injury, her installation ceremony, which was scheduled for this Saturday, is postponed until a later date. We wish Pastor Lisa a speedy recovery.

During the month of June, St. Matthew is collecting canned tuna or chicken for the Bloomsburg Food Cupboard. June is also a month for our quarterly collection of baby wipes and diapers for Bundles of Blessings. Thanks for your generous support of these two long-time ministries.

The worship and music committee will meet on Tuesday, September 1 (please note the corrected date) at 6:30 p.m. in the chapel. All are invited.

The church quilters are in need of slightly used sheets (full, queen, or king sized) for their quilt making. Donated sheets can be left on the cart located by the elevator.

Items for the community Blessing Box are always appreciated and can be left in the container in the gathering area whenever the church is open. Particularly useful items for this time of year include heat and eat items, snack crackers, single serve cereals, etc.

The church office is generally open from 9 a.m. until noon each weekday to drop off your offerings or items for donation. Please call ahead (570-784-4515) to confirm that the office will be open if you are planning to stop by.

Have a blessed week.

From Pastor Lisa: On Friday, I took a tumble while out walking. and one ambulance ride and a long afternoon in the ER later, I am recuperating at home with a compound fracture to my right wrist (good thing I'm left handed). There's a strong possibility that surgery is in my near future. Bottom line: I'm out of commission for a few days. Your prayers are appreciated.

The Second Sunday after Pentecost invites us to reflect on what it means to follow Christ in our daily lives. Through Scripture readings that emphasize God's mercy, grace, and call to faithful discipleship, we are reminded that our relationship with God is rooted not in rules alone, but in God's love for us.

As we gather for worship at 9 a.m. tomorrow with Pastor Lisa Barnes, we will give thanks for the gift of faith and seek the Spirit's guidance to live as Christ's disciples in the world. We warmly invite you to join us.

The altar flowers for tomorrow’s worship service are given to the Glory of God and in honor of the life of our Mom, Barb Skipper, by Emory and Becky Toth..
