The Fifth District, under the leadership of President Dr. Patrick K. Latimore, keeps its focus on what’s most important—prayer and our young people.

Prayer undergirds everything through scheduled calls among the auxiliaries and in every gathering—virtual and in person. Today’s Intercessory Prayer Breakfast
hosted by the 5th District Ushers Ministry and Health Professionals was held at Clarkston First Baptist Church, Rev. Dr. Karl D. Moore, pastor. Prayers were offered for children and youth, prisoners, GMBC, the church, the nation, pastors, ministers, and leaders. prior to an uplifting inspirational message by Rev. Walter Mobley, pastor of Victory Baptist Church of Atlanta-East: Luke 18:1, “Keep Praying”.

This afternoon, the Fifth DistrictYouth, led by Sis. Homerzelle Gentry of Antioch BC North, gathered at the Greater Fair Hill BC, for a screening of the movie “David.” From the youngest, in a stroller, to the teens and adults, the movie kept the audience enthralled. The animated biblical musical follows David's journey from a humble shepherd boy in Bethlehem to his God-ordained ascent to King of Israel. When our children and youth can visualize and internalize the Bible, their lives are being built on a firm foundation.

The Fifth District was well represented by our ushers at the NBCUSA, Inc. Annual Session in Orlando, FL. The Rev. Dr. Jasper William’s, Jr. gave the opening message for Evening Worship on Tuesday. When Dr. Brenda Eason gave her Presidential Address on Wednesday to the NBC Ushers and Nurses, all the shouting ushers needed ushers!! The contributions of the Women’s Auxiliary helped to provide needed items and cash to a shelter in Orlando. Sis. Karen McKinney Holley was appointed to the Home Mission Board, gave a report in the Woman’s Auxiliary, and attended the YYA.
