God is reassuring the Israelites...

““All who rage against you will surely be ashamed and disgraced; those who oppose you will be as nothing and perish. Though you search for your enemies, you will not find them. Those who wage war against you will be as nothing at all. For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you. Do not be afraid, you worm Jacob, little Israel, do not fear, for I myself will help you,” declares the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.”
Isaiah 41:11-14 NIV

"YOU WORM Jacob, little Israel..."
Calling out our nothingness... our helplessness.
But...
"Do not fear..."
Why?
"I, myself, will help you"
The Lord himself.... the Redeemer... the "Holy One of Israel"

Let's walk out in this power today, knowing that we are held by his "righteous right hand". Knowing that if he is for us, nothing can be against us. He is our strength and our help in times of trouble.
Be fearless today!!!
He goes before you
And behind you
And beside you
He is FOR YOU...

REMINDER
Ladies Wednesday night study "God Won't Leave You There" will not have group tonight.
We meet back up next Wednesday, Oct 21, to complete Session 4 (pgs 51-64). Genesis 40 - Joseph interprets dreams of cupbearer and baker.

“This is what the Lord says: “Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who draws strength from mere flesh and whose heart turns away from the Lord. That person will be like a bush in the wastelands; they will not see prosperity when it comes. They will dwell in the parched places of the desert, in a salt land where no one lives. “But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.””
Jeremiah 17:5-8 NIV

Jeremiah makes it very clear... trust in yourself, or man, and turn your heart from God? Not good. Put your trust (confidence) in God? Good.
"Like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. "
Where are your roots going?
Is it reaching out to "the living water"? Or the world, humans, the flesh?
And notice in this passage, it does not say that when you trust in God, trouble will not come. In fact it says that there will be "drought" and there will be "heat". But through it, you will not be affected...still green... still standing...not worried.... still producing fruit.
Put your trust, your confidence, in God, the Creator of the universe.. the one who holds the whole world.

“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.”
Philippians 4:8-9 NIV

Put it into practice!!!
How many of us go to church... do Bible studies... but do not put what we learn into practice? We are all guilty of that.
Paul here is encouraging believers to act out what they have seen in him and heard from him. We all follow someone, emulate someone, want to be like someone.
Be careful who that someone is.
We should seek out mature believers who are obviously followers of Christ. You see it in them... on them. They display it in everything they do. We need to learn from them and then put it into action.
And the promise?... The God of peace will be with you. What a great promise.

Thank you Lord God for this day. May we put your word into action today in everything we say and do. May we focus on those who shine your name and your love and learn from them... then put that into action. May we be more like Jesus every second of every day.
Amen
