Colossians 3:1-4 NIV
[1] Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. [2] Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. [3] For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. [4] When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

If this doesn't give you hope today, I don't know what will.
Look up dear child of God!
Set your hearts and minds on things ABOVE...
NOT on this world.
Glory Hallelujah.

You have been raised WITH Christ.

Matthew 22:36-40 NIV
[36] “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” [37] Jesus replied: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ [38] This is the first and greatest commandment. [39] And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ [40] All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

Love, Love, Love.
Love the Lord, Your God
Love your neighbor
Notice it doesn't say anything about loving yourself. Don't get me wrong... we should have a positive self esteem and love God's creation of who we are. But to follow Jesus, love of self has to go behind love of God and love of others. An unselfish love.
There's actually proof... research... that shows that when we do for others, give to others, have a steady, strong faith relationship, we are happier. As Dr. Jordan Petersen says " if you want happiness, you have to stop thinking about yourself" (paraphrase).

Love love love
Let's go.

Luke 17:11-14 CSB
[11] While traveling to Jerusalem, he passed between Samaria and Galilee. [12] As he entered a village, ten men with leprosy , met him. They stood at a distance [13] and raised their voices, saying, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us! ” [14] When he saw them, he told them, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” And while they were going, they were cleansed.

Did you notice that?
"While they were going"
Not "when they got to the priests"...
Not instant "you are healed"...
But "while" they were walking.
With each and every step came the healing.

Sometimes, that is how our healing comes, with our steps of walking out in faith. With our movement toward what is healing.
Where do you need healing today?
Are you just sitting around waiting for God to heal it? He can... but maybe he's wanting you to walk a little. Like the fiery furnace, God didn't stop the fire. He sent an angel to walk through it with them.
Keep walking with Jesus.
He's got you.
And keep praying for that healing.

Psalms 34:8-11 CSB
[8] Taste and see that the Lord is good. How happy is the person who takes refuge in him! [9] You who are his holy ones, fear the Lord, for those who fear him lack nothing. [10] Young lions lack food and go hungry, but those who seek the Lord will not lack any good thing. [11] Come, children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord.

Sounds slightly contradictory doesn't it?
Fear him...but he's good.
There's a dialog in "The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe"...

Susan Pevensie: “I'd thought he was a man. Is he—quite safe? I shall feel rather nervous about meeting a lion.”
Mrs. Beaver: “If there's anyone who can appear before Aslan without their knees knocking, they're either braver than most or else just silly.”
Lucy Pevensie: “Then he isn't safe?”
Mr. Beaver: “Safe? Who said anything about safe? ’Course he isn't safe. But he's good. He's the King, I tell you.”

We should fear our God. He can crush mountains, defeat armies, destroy cities... and defeat death itself. He is Holy. He is mighty. He is above all things.
But he is Good...Just... loving. And if we seek him, we are promised that he is our stronghold, our refuge, our hope in times of trouble, and nothing can sn**ch us from his hands, not even death.

Father God, we come before you today with trembling, with "all lowliness and meekness". You are God, we are not. We submit to your will. We trust you as our refuge, our stronghold, our peace in times of trouble.
May we seek you and glorify you and only you today. Amen

This song was played very loudly in my car back in the day... the electric guitar when it his the chorus is the jam. Play this loudly....trust me.

Psalm 23:4 ESV
[4] Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

Even though....("yea, though" in King James)
Powerful words.
Despite the situation I am currently in....
So what situation is the psalmist in?

"..walk through the valley of the shadow of death" other versions read "dark valley".
We are ALL on this walk through life where the final chapter is...well...death. So we are constantly in the shadow of it... looming over us. We are in that shadow every second of every day.
And the psalmist says "the valley" of that shadow of death. Which is generally the low point. When we reference being in the valley, it's usually not a good time... illness, sadness, grief, depression, heartbreak, etc. It's not a fun walk.

So...
Despite the bad situation I am currently in....
"I will fear no evil..."
I will not be afraid of it or any evil that tries to conquer me.
Why?
" ..for you are with me"
Because God is with me.
No matter what my situation...
No matter what valley I'm in...
I will not fear!!!

And that ultimate shadow, death, has been defeated. By Jesus. On that cross.

Are you walking through a valley today?
Are you fearing death?
Jesus says "come to me all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest" Matthew 11:28
He also said...
[33] These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. John 16:33

Walk out in peace and courage today knowing God has you. Walk through that valley with head high and a smile on your face.
