Romans 15:5-7
We who are strong have an obligation to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves. Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to build him up. For Christ did not please himself, but as it is written, “The reproaches of those who reproached you fell on me.” For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.

There are several ways to help our partners on the ground right now. If you are able to make a donation, any amount makes a meaningful difference. Spreading awareness of the situation and the church's response is also important - share this post with a friend! And, as always, prayer is at the heart of our response. Please pray for the church as they raise awareness, work towards prevention, and care for those in need.

In Burundi, one of the poorest countries in the world, our partners, the Diocese of Matana and Bishop Seth Ndayirukiye, are brining education to their community! Despite being so densely populated, many Burundians do not have access to education. The Diocese, is expanding unto their local school to ensure all students have space to learn. This is exciting news, since in 2018, they partnered with ARDF to add 6 more classrooms. The proposed two new classrooms will provide 60 children access to primary school grades 5 and 6!

In addition to the classrooms, the Diocese is building a 20-room guesthouse. Together, the guesthouse and additional school classrooms will support the ongoing holistic ministry of the Diocese of Matana in the community and ensure it can be financially self-sustaining.

Have you ever seen a post like this and wondered what it means? As the Anglican Relief and Development Fund, part of the work we do is funding and supporting our partners in relief efforts after a crisis. Whether it's flooding, earthquakes, famine or something else, our partners are often addressing gaps in their community during times of uncertainty.

These posts with a red banner are our way of keeping up to date. Where are they? How is the relief work going? How can we join in uplifting our partners in prayer?

Acts 2:29-36

“Brothers, I may say to you with confidence about the patriarch David that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day. Being therefore a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that he would set one of his descendants on his throne, he foresaw and spoke about the resurrection of the Christ, that he was not abandoned to Hades, nor did his flesh see corruption. This Jesus God raised up, and of that we all are witnesses. Being therefore exalted at the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this that you yourselves are seeing and hearing. For David did not ascend into the heavens, but he himself says,

“The Lord said to my Lord,
“Sit at my right hand,
until I make your enemies your footstool.”

Let all the house of Israel therefore know for certain that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified.”

Why education?

Education is a topic we are passionate about here at ARDF; it is a catalyst for change, opening the doorway of opportunity for many. Whether it's through the education itself, the cycle breaking of poverty, or the communal engagement, our partners know the value education can bring. So for the next few weeks, we are highlighting some of our partners who are making education accessible to their communities.

Starting with our partners the Diocese of Wanjok - who are adding four new classrooms, an administrative building, and fencing to St. Paul’s Secondary School! Wanyjok, South Sudan, is one of many places impacted by decades of civil war which has destroyed schools, displaced teachers, and left generations without access to learning. Additionally, this area of northern South Sudan is now receiving many refugees and returnees - placing immense burden on the already fragile and limited education system. The Secondary School offers hope to the region by giving children the opportunity to learn in a secure setting, teachers a stable job, and families the opportunity for their children to receive education.

Join us in uplifting the Diocese of Wanjok and the work they're doing and the change they are fostering in their community.
