ARDF will be partnering with the Anglican Church in Nepal to support the response to this devastating disaster.

Leaders of the Anglican Church in Nepal have been on the ground in the affected region to meet with church leaders, assess needs, and begin responding with relief and practical support through the church. The Anglican Church in Nepal is already providing shelter and food at two church locations in the impacted areas. At least one local Anglican church was flooded, and eight church members remain missing. The Church has also reported that communities are facing deep distress in addition to urgent needs for food, clean water and temporary shelter, and they have highlighted the needs of especially vulnerable people such as the sick, the elderly, pregnant women, and children. Road access to some of the worst affected areas are cut off, and water sources are contaminated.

Communities affected by these floods are facing deep distress in addition to urgent needs for food, clean water, and temporary shelter. The Anglican church is coming alongside families to meet people’s urgent needs and to offer comfort through practical care and compassion.

On August 26, a massive torrent of water, mud and debris surged through a Himalayan river valley in the mountainous border region between Nepal and the Tibet region of China. The flash floods and mudslides tore through villages and swept away houses, roads and bridges. More than 350 deaths have been reported so far in Nepal, and 1,300 people are missing. The flash floods were likely triggered by an ice avalanche caused by a massive glacial collapse higher up in the mountains. Search-and-rescue efforts are underway, but some areas remain very difficult to access. The Dean of the Anglican Church in Nepal is currently on the ground assessing needs, and some church members remain missing. Please join us as we pray for these affected communities in both Nepal and Tibet. Pray for first responders and people waiting for rescue, for resources, and for families who have lost loved ones. Lord, hear our prayer.

"This project is not only helping the community but has also become an evangelism tool." Rev. Orumoi

Here at ARDF, we are proud to support partners who are ensuring clean water for their community. Clean water is foundational to health, agriculture, education, and community life. Without it, the work of development in every other sector is compromised.

Water projects restore dignity and hope for entire communities at a time, giving the Church a tangible way to share Christ as the living water that quenches all thirst.

These photos are from a small development project in Kenya in 2023, when a borehole was drilled to support not only the community but the local farmers and livestock.

Psalm 8
How Majestic is Your Name

1 O Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
You have set your glory above the heavens.
2 Out of the mouth of babies and infants,
you have established strength because of your foes,
to still the enemy and the avenger.
3 When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,
4 what is man that you are mindful of him,
and the son of man that you care for him?
5 Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings
and crowned him with glory and honor.
6 You have given him dominion over the works of your hands;
you have put all things under his feet,
7 all sheep and oxen,
and also the beasts of the field,
8 the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea,
whatever passes along the paths of the seas.
9 O Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
