As our June Intensive comes to a close, we're grateful for a week filled with learning, worship, fellowship, and formation. From the classroom to the chapel, from shared meals to conversations across campus, these days have been a reminder that preparing leaders for Christ's Church happens in community.

Thank you to all who joined us. Safe travels home, and may God continue to guide your calling and ministry.

What if confessionalism isn't primarily a fenceโ€”but a door?

In this week's episode of Cardigan & Collar, Dr. David Luy's lecture on generous confessionalism invites us to reconsider what we actually promise when we vow to carry out ministry "in accordance with the Holy Scriptures and with these creeds and confessions."

His answer: the confessions are not just restrictive. They are a way into riches. They function like a wellโ€”drawing up the deep reserves of the Catholic and Apostolic faith, making them available to pastors who preach and teach from them.

Hosts Maurice Lee and Nathan Yoder frame the lecture beautifully through C.S. Lewis: when Lucy first hears the name of Aslan, she doesn't feel like a soldier being called to battle. She feels like a child waking up to find that school is out and the summer holidays have begun.

That's the invitation. Come and see.

That question from Dr. David Luy cuts to the heart of what Season 3 of Cardigan & Collar is really about. Confessionalism, he suggests, involves disciplines of attention โ€”and the principal object of that attention needs to be the God whom we confess: the unsearchably vast source of all that is good, all that we have, and the very salvation that is ours in Jesus Christ.
