A deep, heartfelt thank you to every sponsors and supporters who made this Food Dana offering possible for 2,250 monks at Drepung Loseling Monastery Inc. many who were having examinations today too.

Seeing the dedication in the kitchen was truly inspiring. Preparing meals on this scale is hard work, yet the monks handled every bit of it to heart, with quiet focus and harmony.

From kneading huge batches of dough and grilling endless fresh flatbreads over giant hot plates, to stirring steaming cauldrons of soup and boiling vats of fresh milk for the tea canisters, every single step was done with total devotion and care. Even the cleanup was done with such mindfulness.

Thank you again to everyone who contributed to this meaningful act of giving, as well as the monks who worked so tirelessly behind the scenes and captured these beautiful moments. No act of kindness or consideration for another, is ever too small—each one has the power to bridge any distance and connect our hearts.

Please remember to dedicate the merits for today. Thank you to everyone for the collective efforts to enable a meaningful Ullambana.

Today, we also dedicate to all who have lost / or are searching for their family members, loved ones, friends, colleagues, pets, and all other sentient/ living beings impacted by the Nepal-Tibet Flash Flood on 26 Aug 2026.

May they have sufficient strength and courage in this time of deep grief to cope with their extreme loss that came in such an unexpected and desvastating way.

May our prayers with the blessing of the Triple Gems able to offer relief and healing in a timely manner. May their fervent prayers be heard and received by their loved ones in bardo, and their heartful prayers become a guiding light path that lead their loved ones toward a swift and good rebirth.

Om Mani Padme Hum. 🙏🏻

This morning's 8 sets of Aspiration Monlams and Medicine Buddha Prayers would not have been possible without the kindness and dedication of so many. Our deepest gratitude goes out to our generous sponsors, warm-hearted volunteers, executive committee members, precious teachers and Gurus, and the devoted nuns at Jamyang Choling Nunnery.

Your support allows these dedications—offered for both the living and the dearly departed—to come to fruition 🙏🏼

As we pray, we hold the victims and affected families of the recent Nepal-Tibet flash floods close in our hearts.

May those who have gone beyond find peace, light, and swift liberation, and may those waiting to be rescued be found safely.

May the rescue and medical teams be guided, safe, and fully supported in their timely aid, and may all who are grieving find comfort, strength, and courage during this difficult time.

Please note that our daily Sur prayers and light offerings are still ongoing every day. Looking ahead, on the upcoming special Ullambana date, we will be hosting a Medicine Buddha and Vajrasattva Puja.

Why dedicate during Ullambana
Ullambana is one of the four most auspicious periods of the Tibetan Buddhist year. Merit generated on these days is said to multiply many times over — and when dedicated with pure motivation, it becomes an inexhaustible cause of benefit for others.

Liberation for the departed — May our loved ones and ancestors be freed from the suffering of the lower realms and the bardo, guided swiftly to a favourable rebirth on the path to enlightenment.

Blessings for the living — May we and all our loved ones enjoy long life, good health, freedom from obstacles, and the flourishing of Dharma practice.

Benefit for all sentient beings — May the merit be shared without limit with every being throughout the six realms, bringing peace, harmony, and the swift attainment of full enlightenment.

Dear Dharma Brothers and Sisters,

As the month of Ullambana unfolds, two auspicious days of collective merit-making draw near. On these blessed occasions, prayers and offerings dedicated to our loved ones — both the living and those who have passed — become a boundless field of merit, planting seeds of healing, long life, freedom from obstacles, and a precious human rebirth in their next life.

We warmly invite you to submit dedication names for the following rituals, conducted by Jamyang Choling Institute together with Tibetan Buddhist Centre (TBC).

27 August 2026 · 15th Day of Ullambana
8 Sets of Aspirations Monlam & Medicine Buddha Prayers

Under the guidance of the sangha members of Jamyang Choling Institute, this day features eight full sets of aspiration prayers together with Medicine Buddha recitations — a combination for healing physical illness, purifying karmic obstacles, and generating merit for loved ones.

On this day :

Dana offering to 160 nuns at Jamyang Choling (Dharamsala) — SGD $20 per share/name

8 Sets Aspirations Monlam & Medicine Buddha Prayers — SGD $15 per name / $30 per family (up to 5 names)

10 September 2026 · 29th Day of Ullambana
Medicine Buddha & Vajrasattva Puja

The concluding and most auspicious day of Ullambana. The Medicine Buddha Puja bestows the blessings of healing and long life; the Vajrasattva Puja purifies negative karma and obscurations at their very root. Practised together, these two profound pujas form a complete offering of healing and purification — sealing the merit of the whole month for the benefit of our loved ones and all sentient beings.

In this Ullambana, light a lamp of compassion for loved ones & all beings. 🙏🏻

There’s a particular quietness to the 7th lunar month.

Somewhere in the week, most of us find ourselves thinking of someone who has passed — a grandparent, a parent, a friend we still miss. Ullambana gives us a way to turn that quiet remembering into something warm and useful.

For a full month, the Sangha gathers to pray, to offer lamps, to prepare food dana, and to write dedication names on your behalf. Every offering becomes part of a collective merit that can reach the ones we can no longer hold.

Behind the Offering — Making Sur Powder with Geshe Yonten

Ever wondered what goes into a Sur offering?

In this video, our Resident Teacher Geshe Yonten walks us through how Sur powder is prepared — the roasted flour, the "three whites and three sweets," and the care that goes into blending it before it's ever burned.

Sur isn't offered as smoke to be seen, but as fragrance to be smelled — a way of reaching hungry ghosts, beings in the bardo, and those we share karmic connections with, offering them nourishment they cannot otherwise receive.

Every ingredient is prepared with intention. Every offering is dedicated with prayer.
