Yesterday, the Order of Malta, Singapore, welcomed Harry Bernard Pereira as a Knight of the Order. It was also a double celebration as our Chaplain, Fr Edward Lim OCD, was awarded the Cross Pro Piis Meritis in recognition of his dedicated service and invaluable contributions to the Singapore Association.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Fr Edward for his unwavering support and faithful service to the Singapore Association over the past 10 years.

May the Lord continue to bless and guide the Order of Malta, Singapore, strengthening us in our vocation to serve our Lords, the sick and the poor, and to remain steadfast in defending and witnessing to the Catholic faith. 🙏🏼

Members and companions of the Singapore Association of the Order of Malta celebrated the Solemnity of the Nativity of St John the Baptist with Mass yesterday, celebrated by H.E. Archbishop Marek Zalewski, Apostolic Nuncio to Singapore and concelebrated by Fr Edward Lim OCD.

In his homily, Archbishop Zalewski reminded us that every human life is a gift, rooted in God’s loving plan. Like St John the Baptist, whose birth brought joy and wonder, we are called to prepare the way for Christ.

Echoing St Augustine, John is the voice, Christ the Word: the voice fades, but the Word remains. In humility, John pointed others not to himself, but to Christ - just as the Order of Malta exists not for itself, but in service to the sick, the marginalised, and those who suffer.

In a world that seeks recognition, St John the Baptist teaches us that true greatness points beyond self: “He must increase, I must decrease.” 🙏🏼
