The Jesuits of the Malaysia - Singapore region started this page to help Catholics discerning their vocations: priesthood, religious, married or single blessedness. The Society of Jesus, commonly know as the Jesuits, is a religious order of priests and brothers, founded by St. Today, the society is one of the largest religious congregation in the Catholic church. The society has been in Malaysia and Singapore since 1950 and is actively engaged in various ministries: the Jesuits run parishes, serve as student chaplains, direct retreats, provide counselling and spiritual guidance, and work in areas of social justice such as migrant and refugee ministries.

The waiting is over. With a sound like a violent wind, the Upper Room is transformed. The Spirit doesn’t force uniformity; instead, He descends as "tongues" of fire, honoring individual identities while forging a single, unified body with a global mission. The Church is born.

St. Ignatius of Loyola described the Jesuit mission as being "a fire that enkindles other fires." A Jesuit vocation is a personal call to receive this same Spirit and to set the world ablaze. We are a diverse group of companions, yet we are united by one Spirit. We are sent to find God in all cultures and to learn 'new languages' of accompaniment, service, and reconciliation needed by a broken world. Are you ready for the Spirit to set your life on fire?

"He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out." Today is Vocation Sunday. Jesus, the Good Shepherd, knows you intimately. He isn't calling out to a faceless crowd; He is speaking to your heart, calling you by name. Do you recognize His voice amidst the noise of the world? A Jesuit vocation is a response to this personal invitation to be a close companion of Jesus and a shepherd to His people. Are you ready to follow where He leads?

They didn't recognize Him until the breaking of the bread. On the road to Emmaus, Jesus accompanies two disillusioned disciples, listening to their stories and opening their hearts to the truth. A vocation is often discovered like this—on the journey, in companionship, and in the breaking of the bread. Who are your companions on the journey? Are your hearts burning to know His will?

"Put your finger here and see my hands." Jesus doesn't dismiss Thomas's doubt; He meets it with His wounded presence. Vocation is not for the perfect, but for those who have experienced God's mercy in their own wounds and doubts. Jesuits are sent on a mission of reconciliation, bringing God's mercy to a wounded world. Don't let your doubts hold you back; let them lead you to a deeper encounter with the Risen Lord.

Christ is Risen! Alleluia! The tomb is empty. Love has won. The Resurrection is the foundation of our hope and the fuel for our mission. St. Ignatius speaks of the Risen Jesus exercising the "office of consoler," bringing joy to his friends. A vocation is a call to share in this profound joy and bring it to a world still living in the shadows. Where can you carry the light of the Resurrection today?

It is finished. The ultimate act of love. Today, we stand silent beneath the Cross. For a Jesuit, the Cross is not just a symbol, but the standard we gather under. It represents total self-gift for the salvation of the world. In the face of such love, our only response can be an offering of our own lives. "Take, Lord, receive..." What are you willing to offer Him today?
