God commanded humanity to work long before the Fall. Biblical work isn't merely about production or earning a paycheckโ€”it is fundamentally about stewardship.

As Godโ€™s image-bearers, our daily labor is an assignment to cultivate, protect, and care for the world He has entrusted to us. However, we must guard our hearts against letting our job titles become our primary source of validation. When our work becomes our identity, we fall into the trap of seeking worth from our positions rather than our Creator.

As Colossians 3:23 reminds us, our work may express who we are, but it must never define our Identity. Ultimately, we are called to reframe how we view our daily tasks. Whatever you do, work heartily as unto the Lord and not for men. When we shift our perspective from serving human expectations to honoring God, our everyday labor transforms from a routine obligation into a meaningful act of worship.

We often see the workday as something mundane, something that we just need to get through. From the first ringing alarm to the end of our shift, many times โ€œworkโ€ is just โ€œwhat we do between rest days.โ€

On the other hand, we may see church as something set apart for God that makes the rest of our week holy.

The truth is that there is no divide between the sacred and the secular, or the mundane and the holy. Work is worship, part of our holy calling.

We have seen God carry us through the battles, the failures, the victories, and the seasons when courage felt out of reach. Joshua reminded Israel of all that God had done because remembering His goodness keeps our hearts inclined toward Him and reminds us that no blessing, achievement, or opportunity can ever take His place. The God who brought us this far is still the God who is worthy of our whole heart.

So when the battle is over, and the victory comes, may we never forget the One who gave it. What do you do when failure catches you off guard? Fresh off the victory at Jericho, Israel suffered a shocking defeat at Aiโ€”not because they were outnumbered, but because Achan had disobeyed God's command and kept some of the devoted things for himself. That kind of defeat could have left them stuck: helpless, indecisive, avoiding, anxious. But it was God's grace that moved Joshua to fall facedown and inquire of God instead of staying in fear. Being means that even after we fail, grace still gives us the strength to seek God rather than run from Him.

What do you do when Godโ€™s way doesnโ€™t make sense? Joshua stood before the fortified walls of Jericho when God gave an unexpected command: march around the city for six days. To human logic, it seemed pointless. But Joshua obeyed because he trusted the God who had already given the promise. Sometimes, being means choosing faith over what we can see or understand. Following Godโ€™s command might have felt like going in circles, but walking in obedience always leads to His victory.

Whatever impossible "wall" you are facing this week, keep stepping out in faithโ€”the Commander of the Lordโ€™s army goes before you, and the victory is already won! We can trust His character when we cannot yet see the outcome, knowing that He is faithful, He is powerful, and He alone can save.
