The Salvation Army Rotorua

The Salvation Army Rotorua This is the official page of The Salvation Army Rotorua in Aotearoa NZ. Kia ora koutou - thank you for being a part of our online community!

The mission of The Salvation Army in Aotearoa New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga is:

Caring for people: follow the example of Jesus by identifying with the needy, standing alongside them and caring for people in all situations. Transforming lives: we believe that God can transform people and that the resulting wholeness is experienced through belief in Jesus Christ and by the power of the Holy Spirit. T

his transformation is evidenced in discipleship and commitment. Reforming society: we seek to express the love and power of God in the community. This calls for the challenging of manifestations of evil, injustice and oppression, and for steps aimed at their elimination.

We want to give a massive thank you to our whānau from Equippers Church Rotorua for collecting kai to help fill up the Supermarket.

Your generosity and aroha will make such a huge difference to families in our community who are facing tough times. Every item of kai donated represents someone’s kindness and compassion in action, and we are overwhelmed by the support you’ve shown.

It’s a beautiful reminder of what it means to be whānau, caring for one another and ensuring no one goes without.

We are so grateful to serve our community alongside you.

JOIN US THIS SUNDAY!!! PLEASE SHARE 😍
Nau mai, haere mai e te whānau! Come and join us at The Salvation Army Rotorua at 1030am as Vernon Downes shares a powerful testimony of God's grace in his life ❤️

Leaving behind a life with Black Power, violence fueled by a drug addiction, and many years in and out of prison, Vern eventually found a completely new pathway!

Years later, after time with The Salvation Army Bridge & Epsom Lodge and Hoani Waititi Marae, and having completed a Bachelor of Social Work and a Diploma in Biblical Studies, he is now working for Odyssey in Auckland and with Te Whare Whakapiki Wairua (the Alcohol and Other Drug Treatment Court), supporting others to make big changes and find recovery.

This Sunday he'll be bringing down his guitar and some of his brothers on the recovery journey to share time with us. If you, your friends or whānau need some hope and encouragement, come and hear Vern's incredible unfolding story on the road to recovery, the ups and downs, the struggles, the celebrations and the possibilities!
