Church is not just a place to go to, but a family to belong to. Church Unlimited Rotorua is an accepting and big-hearted family. So, if you are looking for a place to develop your personal relationship with God, grow in Christian friendships, and show His love to the community, then Church Unlimited would suit you.

Our campus operates as a house church model. We meet in various house church groups across Rotorua. This is a direction the Lord has intentionally led us toward, and we’re excited about the opportunities microchurch allows. Our vision is to build people and create a family that walks the Christian life together.

16 He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.

The parable of the prodigal son is such a rich story, and Father's Day last week was a great chance to look at what we can learn about our Father God from the passage. This parable has also often been called "The Running Father".

God describes His own nature in Exodus when He met with Moses.
Exodus 34:5-6 New Living Translation
5 Then the Lord came down in a cloud and stood there with him; and he called out his own name, Yahweh. 6 The Lord passed in front of Moses, calling out,
“Yahweh! The Lord!
The God of compassion and mercy!
I am slow to anger
and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness.

He is merciful, loving and faithful, and this is the behaviour we see from the Father in the parable of the prodigal son. He ran to show mercy to his son...despite the son's many failures. The Father running would have been shameful in that culture, but his choice was to take the son's shame upon himself in order to restore the son to the family. This is what our Father has done for us through the cross.

We can learn some key lessons from this story so that we can also live and act like our Father.
- We can learn to show compassion and mercy as we see broken and lost people as sons and daughters being reclaimed from death.
- We can humble ourselves and run to the loving Father as we recognize our own need for mercy.
- A rejection to reflect Jesus's mercy for the lost and broken around us is actually a rejection of the ways of God our Father.

Let's both receive the incredible, faithful love of our Father, and aim to adopt His ways as our own.

For Father's Day this Sunday 3rd September, we will meet all together in one house for a social church service. It will be a shorter informal gathering, with a BBQ BLT lunch together. (Plus a small gift for all the Men)

This will be a celebration of God our Father, and delighting in His goodness toward us.
You are welcome to bring something to share for lunch, but we will supply the bulk of the food.

Last Sunday we heard a message from Pastor Tak about the tension between purpose and pleasure. If we don't find purpose we medicate with pleasure! God intends that we are living with a sense of purpose and fulfillment, contributing to the function of His creation, and being satisfied with the joy that life brings.

That purpose can be found where we spend the majority of our time - in our work. It could be our employment, our work as a parent, or how we invest time in retirement, but our greatest fulfillment comes from working. Try to link your current day-to-day duties with a Kingdom purpose, and ask God to help you see the purpose in life.

How do we get strength when life's pressure is heavy? Our Christian hope is that God is for us and is with us to help keep our peace in difficult times.

This Sunday we will look at a particular key to receiving God's help and strength. Our prayer is that it encourages and builds your faith in God's goodness...He is available, willing, able, and trustworthy!

We see in 2 Kings chapter 3 the story of three Kings who found themselves in a tough spot…
They had marched for seven days in the desert wilderness, and they ran out of water with the battle ahead still to be faced. It was a bleak situation!
Weary, thirsty, struggling, and facing certain defeat… It might sound familiar to many people today. Can you relate?
And perhaps it’s where many in our society find themselves, and even many in the church – thirsty and in desperate need. Many people feel like they’ve been walking in the heat for a long time. Running out of strength, and overwhelmed by the prospect of battles still to face.

Yet we see the result of taking time to inquire of the Lord. God promises a miraculous deliverance! We learn from this story that:
1. God is available
We can inquire of Him any time and in any situation. He is with us, and He is available to step in with the wisdom and power we need to keep moving forward.

2. God is willing and able
Not only is God with us, but He is for us. He wants to help and do us good, and He has the ability to help. We can take any situation to Him in prayer knowing that no situation is too hard for Him to work out. He has a solution for you, and He loves you. God is willing, you don't need to convince Him to help you.

3. God is trustworthy
Even difficult situations can work out for a greater good. God not only met the three kings' need for water, but God also had the bigger picture future battle in mind. In fact, the desperate need for water became the very means by which God would give them victory in the battle.
Trust God, even when you find yourself in a challenging spot. He is willing and able to lead you to your greatest need. We can trust Him.

Take time to inquire of the Lord today.

We will be looking at a miraculous story from the Old Testament, and considering some lessons we can learn about when we find ourselves in challenging situations. What do we do when we are 'dry and thirsty in the wilderness'?

Our mindset determines our responses and behaviour in life. In a world that promotes, celebrates, and values personal rights, status, wealth, and power, Jesus demonstrated another mindset. He showed that true greatness is found in serving others.

Philippians 2:3-5
3 Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility regard others as better than yourselves. 4 Let each of you look not to your own interests, but to the interests of others. 5 Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus,

Instead of following the pattern of the world by climbing the ladder of greatness at the expense of others, Jesus descended from the greatest position with God all the way to the despised position of being crucified on a cross between two criminals.

His way is now to be our way.

Ephesians 4:22-23
22 You were taught to put away your former way of life, your old self, corrupt and deluded by its lusts, 23 and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,

The greatest in God's eyes are those who are humble enough to serve others.

We'll be taking a dive into the book of Philippians, looking at its context, and exploring its core theme and message. Grasping this theme is a game changer for understanding the priorities of the Christian faith.

The ancient wells of Christianity are wells of prayer. It's time we returned wholeheartedly to this well and take the effort to re-dig it in this generation.

This week we heard from Pastor Tak as he reported on a recent ministry trip in Australia. He was left astounded by God's favour as he addressed the themes of prayer and revival. The message he feels God is speaking to Church Unlimited in this season is to press more deeply into prayer for revival in our nation. There is an urgency to respond for the sake of our generation.

One more day of our prayer and fasting this week. Let's finish strong with a focus on miracles. Pray for an increase in God's power working in our lives, and miracles in our relationships.
