Welcome home, Father General!

After visiting Oblate communities across the Central European Province and sharing in their life, mission, prayer, and fraternity, the Superior General, Fr. Luis Ignacio Rois Alonso, OMI, has returned to Rome.

From parish ministries and pilgrimage shrines to youth apostolates and the care of elderly confreres, his journey was marked by countless encounters that reflect the richness of the Oblate charism. Along the way, he spent time listening, encouraging, and walking alongside missionaries and the many people who share in the mission of St. Eugene de Mazenod.

As he returns to the General House, we give thanks for the signs of hope, dedication, and missionary zeal witnessed throughout the Province. May the experiences and encounters of this pilgrimage continue to strengthen our bonds of fraternity and inspire us in our shared mission.

Pope Leo XIV has expressed his profound sorrow following a train collision in Urda in central Spain, which claimed 68 lives and left many others injured.

The Pope sent his "heartfelt condolences to the families of those who have died, as well as words of comfort, deep concern, and wishes for a speedy recovery for the injured."

In his telegram of condolences sent Thursday to Archbishop Francisco Cerro Chaves of Toledo, Pope Leo encouraged rescue teams to persevere in their efforts to bring relief and assistance to those affected.

The Holy Father entrusted all those suffering in the aftermath of this tragedy to God’s comfort and mercy, and imparted his Apostolic Blessing.

The Vicar General, Antoni BOCHM, is in Sri Lanka, accompanying the Oblates of the Jaffna Province during their annual retreat in Mannar.

The retreat, which began on 18 October, has brought together nearly seventy Oblates in two successive groups for days of prayer, providing an opportunity for the missionaries to renew their commitment to Christ and to the mission.

On Saturday, the Vicar General will join the Oblate family in celebrating the ordination of two young Oblates of the Jaffna Province, who will be ordained to the priesthood in Mannar by the local bishop.

The Oblates of Hünfeld express their heartfelt gratitude for the visit of the Superior General, Fr. Luis Ignacio Rois Alonso, OMI. His presence among the community was a blessing, marked by fraternity, meaningful conversations, and shared moments of prayer and fellowship.

They were joyful, heartfelt, and blessed days, filled with meaningful encounters, enriching conversations, and precious time shared.

Ce 28 octobre 2026, la communauté oblate de Takir, en Guinée-Bissau, a vécu l’entrée officielle des prénovices, au cours d’une messe présidée par le Supérieur provincial, le Père Vincent Waly DIOUF, OMI.

Continuing his pilgrimage through the Central European Province, the Superior General met with the Oblates of Hünfeld yesterday. This community has been part of the local Church and missionary life for many years.

The Hünfeld community is also home to many elderly and infirm Oblates whose lives have been shaped by decades of missionary service. Here, the ministry of mission continues in a different but no less meaningful way: through prayer, fraternity, and loving care for those who have devoted their lives to proclaiming the Gospel.

The community's commitment to accompanying its senior missionaries is a beautiful witness of gratitude, respect, and Oblate family spirit, ensuring that those who once served the mission so generously continue to be cared for with dignity and affection.
