On 19th and 20th September, Widford Church is hosting a Harvest and Heritage Festival. Full details of the weekend's activities are on our website here: https://widfordchurch.org/harvest-and-heritage-festival/.

Saturday closes with live music from The Vicar and Friends at 5pm and a BBQ and licensed bar. Expect to hear familiar favourites from (amongst others) The Beatles, Bryan Adams, Queen and The Eagles – perfect for an evening of good food, singing and dancing for all ages.

Sometimes we know that we are lost and wandering. Sometimes we are more lost than we know. The gospel (the good news of Jesus) helps us to get home.

This Sunday, 6th September, we begin a new sermon series in the benefice: ‘The Human Condition: The Gospel Answer’. Our opening sermon, ‘Lost and Wandering’ points us to the hope we have in God’s searching love.

Date for your diaries - September 19th and 20th! Join us for a family weekend of harvest and heritage celebration, community projects, bellringing, concerts, refreshments including a BBQ, and some fascinating insights into the 1883 ceiling paintings at Widford church, and the artist who spent 180 days suspended in a hammock, painting them! After this weekend, the church project to remove the back pews and install a small kitchen, WC and Archive Room, will begin!

Sometimes the simplest moments provide the deepest lessons. As we continue our new sermon series, 'Learning from the Master', we have in mind a scene many of us know well: a gathering on a grassy hillside and the sharing of a meal.

We’d love it if you would join us at Widford Church on Sunday 2nd August at 10:30am for our first session, 'Time for a Picnic'. It is a wonderful opportunity to pause and reflect on how the Master provides for us in the most unexpected ways.

In a world that often feels filled with challenging headlines, it’s refreshing to find a story that truly lifts the spirit. We’re reaching the final part of our 'Good News for the World' sermon series, and we’d really love it if you would join us as we explore a message of lasting promise.

On Sunday 19th July, we’ll be gathering at 9:30am to reflect on 'The Hope of the World'. Take good note - this is not just hope for a few Widford folk, but for the whole world. Including you.

As we continue our ‘Good News for the World’ sermon series, we are turning our attention to the issue which bothers a lot of people: "I just don't know where to start."

If that's something that affects you, the service on 5th July seeks to provide useful pointers. We’re meeting at 9:30am, and coffee is served afterwards. You should easily be home by 11am with a message of hope to carry you through the rest of the day.

We are continuing our summer sermon series, 'Good News for the World', and we would love it if you would join us on Sunday 21st June. This particular morning is a special one for our village, as we’ll be celebrating our Patronal Festival for St John the Baptist alongside the next part of our series - 'A Ministry of Reconciliation'.

Whether you’re a regular face in the pews or a curious visitor, our doors are open. Sunday morning presents a wonderful chance to gather in our historic building, to celebrate its founding with some well known hymns, and to explore how we can be a blessing to one another in the heart of our community.

The service begins at 9:30am. Please do pull up a pew and be part of the fellowship!

The Safari Supper is tomorrow and it looks like it's going to be glorious!

Always a highlight of our village calendar, this is a wonderful evening filled with good food, plenty of laughter, and the chance to catch up with neighbours old and new.

We are so grateful to those who have been willing to open their homes to guests and to provide food, drink and hospitality. This is no small undertaking and the longevity of this event owes much to people being willing to put themselves out for the wider community. With this in mind, perhaps we may encourage guests to honour our hosts and their generosity by arriving and departing from each venue at a reasonable time. Thank you.
