Friendship House is based in Blythe Street & provides a Christian witness to the Sandy Row Community Friendship Group for everyone on a Wednesday morning.

It is ideally situated on a residential street adjacent to shops, factories and other community facilities. It is a place in which fellowship and support are available. We have homework and play clubs for primary school-age children. Tots and Toddlers group for Preschool children and their parents/careers. We currently have a staff team of two, Carol, our Children's Worker and Robert, the project leader. We are supported by an amazing team of volunteers. In the early days of South Belfast Friendship House, the PWA was responsible for its management and funding. In 2017 The Council for Mission in Ireland took over the management role and will be key in the development of the House. We hope to continue to have a crucial role in working with families in this area of South Belfast. The House was renovated and extended to include a new multipurpose room and was reopened in March 2010 by The Rt Hon The Lord Mayor, Councillor Naomi Long. The act of worship and Rededication was conducted by The Rt Rev Dr Stafford Carson, Moderator of the General Assembly.

The boys and girls enjoyed the story of friendship between David and Jonathan, with a wee quiz too!

Our Friendship Group ladies enjoyed a lovely visit to our friends at Ballycairn Presbyterian, where we were treated to an amazing lunch.

Thursday’s Community Café was filled with good chats and lovely fellowship!

A huge thank you to Sandyrow Community House especially to Joanne & Angela for taking some of us from Friendship House on a wonderful day and evening to Newry!

We had a fantastic time filled with fun, laughter, lovely food and fellowship. So many happy memories made!

Thank you for your kindness and generosity. We truly appreciate it!

Meet Keith!

As we say goodbye, we also say hello!

Keith has joined the team at Friendship House as temporary Mission Project Leader, having Keith on board means we can continue to serve the Sandy Row community as we review and recruit for the future.

If you see him around make sure you say hello. Please pray for Keith as he settles in to this role, and continue to pray for Louise as she faithfully continues her service in Friendship House amidst all the recent changes.

Well, today we say cheerio to Robert who has been Project Leader at Friendship House for the past three years.

Robert, you’ve brought so much care, compassion, wisdom and kindness to Friendship House, sharing your love for Jesus with everyone who came through the doors and those you worked alongside.

There’s been plenty of fun, banter and craic along the way; and your quick wit, warmth and genuine heart for people have made you a real blessing to us all!

But above everything, your heart has always been to see people come to know Jesus and have a real, personal relationship with Him. Whether through the youth and children’s programmes, men’s breakfast, Friendship Group, community cafe, or Knit and Knatter, you’ve made a difference in so many lives.

Robert, you’ve been so much more than a Project Leader. You’ve been an encourager, a friend and a faithful servant of God.

As you move on to pastures new, you’ll be greatly missed by everyone who knows you in Sandy Row. We’re thankful for all you’ve given to Friendship House and pray that God will richly bless you in your new post.
