Friendship House

Friendship House Friendship House is based in Blythe Street & provides a Christian witness to the Sandy Row Community Friendship Group for everyone on a Wednesday morning.

It is ideally situated on a residential street adjacent to shops, factories and other community facilities. It is a place in which fellowship and support are available. We have homework and play clubs for primary school-age children. Tots and Toddlers group for Preschool children and their parents/careers. We currently have a staff team of two, Carol, our Children's Worker and Robert, the project

leader. We are supported by an amazing team of volunteers. In the early days of South Belfast Friendship House, the PWA was responsible for its management and funding. In 2017 The Council for Mission in Ireland took over the management role and will be key in the development of the House. We hope to continue to have a crucial role in working with families in this area of South Belfast. The House was renovated and extended to include a new multipurpose room and was reopened in March 2010 by The Rt Hon The Lord Mayor, Councillor Naomi Long. The act of worship and Rededication was conducted by The Rt Rev Dr Stafford Carson, Moderator of the General Assembly.

We had such a lovely morning yesterday at our Community Café in Friendship House. It’s always so special to see people come together, have a cuppa, share a chat and enjoy some fellowship.

If you’re around Sandy Row on a Thursday morning, please do pop in and say hello. We’d genuinely love to see you; everyone is welcome

💕🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 GOODBYE ☕️🫖✝️

This week we said goodbye (or maybe see you later) to Abbi, our children’s worker. She began as a volunteer 3 years ago, then covered maternity leave and then became our Children’s Worker

Abbi has served God and Sandy Row well, with passion and compassion, especially our children and young people who she clearly has a massive heart for

We are so thankful for all that Abbi has done as part of the trio at Friendship House and we will miss her as she heads off on a new adventure following where God leads

PRAYER WEEK is happening soon, here at Friendship House, and we would absolutely love for you to join us. ❤️

From 8th–10th September, we’re setting aside time to pray for Friendship House, the life and witness of our work, and the community of Sandy Row.

Whether you’ve been with us for years, you’re part of the local community; or you’ve never stepped through our doors before you are very welcome. 🫶

You can simply drop in anytime between 10.30am and 3.30pm, stay for a few minutes or spend a little longer in prayer.

Prayer changes things. And what a privilege it is to bring our community, our neighbourhood and the people we love before God. 🙏🌿

“My grace is sufficient for you.”

💕More than friendship 💕

Lauren and Chris served on the Summer Outreach Team 12 years ago for the first time, and as they say the rest is history.

12 years later and they got married, and Friendship House held such a special place in their hearts that they chose to bless us through their wedding celebration.

Thank you to Chris and Lauren for their very generous donation towards the work of Friendship House and their ongoing interest in what we’re up to. Congratulations guys!

Have you ever tried to read the Bible but struggled to make sense of it all?

The Bible Course is a relaxed and accessible way to discover the Bible’s big story - from Genesis to Revelation - and see how its people, events and themes fit together.

You don’t need to know anything about the Bible, and you don’t need to be a regular churchgoer. Questions are welcome, and there’s no pressure.

We’ll meet for just one evening each month, so it’s not a big weekly commitment.

📅 Beginning Wednesday 26 August at 7:30pm
📍 Light & Life, Pembroke Street Halls

Curious? Come along and give it a try—or send us a message if you’d like to know more.
