The Holy and the Broken
Kingston Book Launch
Shabbat March 21 at 12.30pm/after Kiddush

This Shabbat we are pleased to welcome Ittay Flescher, the Education Director at Seeds of Peace Jerusalem - an organisation that empowers Israeli and Palestinian youth to create more just and peaceful communities. Ittay will be discussing his recently published book that reflects on his time working in the peace-building sector in the aftermath of October 7th. Published by HarperCollins, The Holy and the Broken was a finalist in the 2025 National Jewish Book Award.

Following decades of dialogue facilitation between Jews, Muslims and Christians, Ittay believes that enemies of today can be the partners of the future.

The Holy and the Broken challenges Palestinian and Israeli leaders, citizens, and their supporters worldwide to imagine a different reality in a book that will comfort the troubled and trouble the comfortable.

This event is hosted by Beth Israel Adult Education with support from Hillel Ontario in Kingston and IPF Atid.

The first 30 people to register for the event will be eligible for a free copy of Ittay’s book. Registration link in our link in bio and will be in the Beth Israel newsletter this week.

✨ Exciting News ✨

We’re delighted to share that Yos Tarshish will be working with Rabbi Polansky over the coming months on a focused pilot to develop and test new youth programming for Beth Israel’s pre-teen and teen community.

Through a combination of listening, relationship-building, and hands-on program development, Yos will be helping us explore how we can create meaningful, engaging pathways that keep our young people connected to Beth Israel and to Jewish life beyond B Mitzvah.

As part of this work, Yos will be reaching out to teens and parents for conversations and feedback, your voices will help shape what comes next.

We’re grateful to be partnering with Yos Tarshish Consulting on this time-bound initiative and look forward to sharing updates as the pilot unfolds.

This Seder was pretty SWEET 🍫🍬 Thank you so much to everyone who joined Talmud Torah for our final session of the year and to enjoy a tasty, authentic chocolate Seder. Chocolate milk, chocolate dipped mango, banana and chocolate Hillel sandwiches, mini eggs, oranges and so much more…needless to say, the kids had a blast!

We said hello to the holiday and goodbye to many of our very special teachers who will be graduating and moving on next year. Beth Israel wishes them all the best!
