We sang "Swing Low Sweet Chariot", Kumbaya, "When the Saints",
Michael Row the boat ashore, and finished up with "He's got the Whole World". Enjoyed by all.

Scripture: Psalm 119: 81-88, 89-96. We read several verses, some regarding Freedom in Christ, Some of Freedom from fear and bo***ge and some of Freedom and justice.

"Loving God, you created us for freedom, dignity, and hope. In times of suffering and oppression, people have lifted their voices in song to strengthen weary hearts and remind one another that they were not alone. May we also find courage, compassion, and freedom in your presence today. Amen"

Hope to see you next Sunday.

This past Sunday, May 24th, the first Sunday of Pentecost our choir and Ellen Bater led us in worship.
"Religious? Spiritual? How about Both?"

"Psalm 16: 1-11; Acts 2: 1-21; John 7: 37-39.
"On this day of wind and flame, we remember the Spirit moving among ordinary people. The Spirit still moves among us now. Not only in great miracles, but in kindness, patience, compassion and courage. The Spirit teaches us how to love. When the world grows harsh, rushed, or divided, the Spirit calls us to gentleness. May our words bring healing. May our actions bring peace. Come, Holy Spirit. Open our hearts to one another. Let us worship God with joy, love and kindness"

We enjoyed music from the choir and also from "Sweet Melodies"

This past Sunday was Mothers Day. Ellen Bater and the choir helped us celebrate mothers and all caregivers. Some of us shared bits about our mothers.
"A man before his time".

"Loving Christ, you saw dignity where others saw shame. You offered friendship where others offered judgment. You listened to women, healed women, taught women, and welcomed women into your ministry. We remember too the women who followed you faithfully, Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Susanna, Martha , Mary and many others who supported your ministry with generosity, courage and devotion. They walked beside you, cared for your needs, remained near the cross, and carried the good news of resurrection. Teach us to honor one another with that same compassion. Help us build a church where every voice is heard, every gift welcomed, and every person valued. May we learn from the faithfulness of those women who served with quiet strength and enduring love. Amen"

Scripture: John 8: 1-11; Luke 8:1-3.

This past Sunday, May 3rd, Doris Thomas led our worship with a message about a milk project that she and her sister are involved in. They were able to get a slight reduction in cost at the store on Elliott Ave. Someone orders the milk. The store lets her know when it arrives. It is sorted in bags and labelled to the school. The Weeneebayco Health person in Kingston is notified, then the airport manager . This is delivered each month. They depend on funding to keep this successful project going.
The title of her message was Spiritual Milk...Living Stone.
This is one project that Zion supports in our own small way,

Next Sunday, May 10th is Mothers Day.

Arrest, denial, betrayal, the cross, and death. Is the hope, the vision gone? Jesus cries "God, why have you forsaken me? and our voices join his. We journey in deep shadows, longing for the light. Yet even as the shadows deepen, there is a whisper which says; God is with us; we are not alone.
