With deep sorrow and heartfelt sadness, we announce the falling asleep in the Lord of our beloved sister, Kalya Polihronopoulos, who courageously endured her battle with cancer and reposed peacefully on May 7, 2026.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 12, at 3:00 p.m. at St. George Greek Orthodox Church.
A public viewing will take place at 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.

We humbly ask for your prayers for the repose of her soul and for strength and comfort for her family during this difficult time.

May her memory be eternal.

Με βαθιά θλίψη και πόνο ψυχής, ανακοινώνουμε την κοίμηση της αγαπημένης μας αδελφής Καλλιόπης Πολυχρονοπούλου, η οποία, με πίστη, γενναιότητα και αξιοπρέπεια, αγωνίσθηκε τη μάχη με τον καρκίνο και αναπαύθηκε εν Κυρίω την 7η Μαΐου 2026.

Η εξόδιος ακολουθία και το τρισάγιο θα τελεσθούν την Τρίτη, 12 Μαΐου, στις 3:00 μ.μ. στον Ιερό Ναό Αγίου Γεωργίου.
Θα προηγηθεί δημόσιο προσκύνημα στις 2:00 μ.μ. πριν από την ακολουθία.

Παρακαλούμε θερμά για τις προσευχές σας υπέρ αναπαύσεως της ψυχής της και για παρηγοριά και δύναμη στην οικογένειά της.

Christ is Risen!

Yesterday, Sunday, in our community, we had the joy and blessing of honoring AHEPA Day and the Daughters of Penelope. A large number of faithful gathered in a spirit of unity and love, participating in the Divine Liturgy. Toward the end of the service, we offered a blessing of the five loaves for the health and strengthening of all members of AHEPA and the Daughters of Penelope, who with consistency and dedication offer valuable service to the community. We express our sincere gratitude to them and pray that God may continue to strengthen, enlighten, and guide them in every effort, granting them strength, peace, and joy.

Χριστός Ανέστη!

Χθες, Κυριακή, στην κοινότητά μας είχαμε τη χαρά και την ευλογία να τιμήσουμε την ημέρα της ΑΧΕΠΑ και των Θυγατέρων της Πινελόπης. Πλήθος πιστών συγκεντρώθηκε μέσα σε πνεύμα ενότητας και αγάπης, συμμετέχοντας στη Θεία Λειτουργία. Προς το τέλος της ακολουθίας τελέσαμε αρτοκλασία υπέρ υγείας και ενισχύσεως όλων των μελών της ΑΧΕΠΑ και των Θυγατέρων της Πινελόπης, οι οποίοι με συνέπεια και αφοσίωση προσφέρουν πολύτιμο έργο στην κοινότητα. Yesterday, Sunday, in our community, we had the joy and blessing of honoring AHEPA Day and the Daughters of Penelope. Christ is Risen!

Tomorrow Sunday, by the grace of God, Orthros and the Divine Liturgy will be celebrated from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

During the Divine Liturgy, an Artoklasia service and memorial prayers will be offered for the members of AHEPA and the Daughters of Penelope.

Tomorrow’s celebration is dedicated to AHEPA, honoring its meaningful contribution and service to Orthodoxy, Hellenism, and our community. In a spirit of love, unity, and fellowship, AHEPA has prepared a luncheon for everyone, which will be offered free of charge in honor of this special day and for all members of our Edmonton community.

We warmly invite everyone to join us in prayer and fellowship as we gather together for this beautiful and blessed day of faith, brotherhood, and love.

Αύριο Κυριακή, με τη χάρη του Θεού, θα τελεστεί ο Όρθρος και η Θεία Λειτουργία από τις 9:00 π.μ. έως τις 12:00 μ.μ.

Κατά τη διάρκεια της Θείας Λειτουργίας θα τελεστεί αρτοκλασία και επιμνημόσυνη δέηση για τα μέλη της ΑΧΕΠΑ και των Θυγατέρων της Πηνελόπης.

Η αυριανή ημέρα είναι αφιερωμένη στην ΑΧΕΠΑ, τιμώντας το πολύτιμο έργο και την προσφορά της προς την Ορθοδοξία, τον Ελληνισμό και την κοινότητά μας. As we enter the blessed month of May, we continue to walk in the unending light of our Lord’s Resurrection. The Church calls us to keep alive within our hearts the joy of the empty Tomb and the hope that flows from Christ’s victory over death. Through the holy services of this month and the great feast of the Ascension, we lift our minds and hearts toward Heaven, remembering that Christ did not abandon the world, but remains forever with us, guiding us toward His Kingdom. May this month fill every soul with peace, faith, repentance, and spiritual strength, so that together we may continue the beautiful journey of salvation with hope and love in Christ.

Καθώς εισερχόμαστε στον ευλογημένο μήνα του Μαΐου, συνεχίζουμε να βαδίζουμε μέσα στο ανέσπερο φως της Αναστάσεως του Κυρίου μας. Η Εκκλησία μάς καλεί να κρατήσουμε ζωντανή μέσα στις καρδιές μας τη χαρά του κενού Τάφου και την ελπίδα που πηγάζει από τη νίκη του Χριστού επάνω στον θάνατο. Μέσα από τις Ιερές Ακολουθίες αυτού του μήνα και τη μεγάλη δεσποτική εορτή της Αναλήψεως, υψώνουμε και εμείς τον νου και την καρδιά μας προς τον Ουρανό, θυμούμενοι ότι ο Χριστός δεν εγκατέλειψε τον κόσμο, αλλά παραμένει πάντοτε μαζί μας, οδηγώντας μας προς τη Βασιλεία Του. Είθε αυτός ο μήνας να γεμίσει κάθε ψυχή με ειρήνη, πίστη, μετάνοια και πνευματική δύναμη, ώστε όλοι μαζί να συνεχίσουμε το όμορφο ταξίδι της σωτηρίας με ελπίδα και αγάπη εν Χριστώ.

We will be having the one-year Memorial Service for both of our parents Kondilia and Christoforos Karavidas on Sunday May 10th at the St. George Greek Orthodox Church. Regular church service begins at 10:00am but for the Memorial you can arrive at 11:00am. After the service we will be having a light lunch in the church hall.
All are welcome to attend the Service and Lunch. 🙏🏻

Christ is Risen!

With deep emotion and profound spiritual joy, we celebrated yesterday the feast day of the Holy and Glorious Great Martyr George the Trophy-Bearer, the patron and protector of our church and community. This day is always especially meaningful to us, because Saint George is not only the patron saint of our church, but also a living presence of faith, hope, and strength within the life of our community.

Within the radiant light of these holy Paschal days, Saint George reminds us that true strength is born through faith and complete love for Christ. Through his martyrdom, courage, and unwavering confession of faith, he continues to inspire our hearts and strengthen us through the struggles and trials of life.

We sincerely thank all those who joined us in prayer and honored the feast of our church with their presence. Your prayers, love, and presence made this celebration even more beautiful and blessed.

May Saint George shelter and protect every family, granting health, peace, strength, and spiritual consolation, and may he guide all of us ever closer to the light of the Resurrection and to the love of God.

Με βαθιά συγκίνηση και ανείπωτη πνευματική χαρά εορτάσαμε χθες τη μνήμη του Αγίου ενδόξου Μεγαλομάρτυρος Γεωργίου του Τροπαιοφόρου, του προστάτου και εφόρου της εκκλησίας και της κοινότητάς μας. Η ημέρα αυτή είναι πάντοτε ξεχωριστή για όλους μας, γιατί ο Άγιος Γεώργιος δεν είναι μόνο ο Άγιος της εκκλησίας μας, αλλά μία ζωντανή παρουσία πίστεως, ελπίδας και δύναμης μέσα στη ζωή της κοινότητάς μας.

Μέσα στο αναστάσιμο φως αυτών των αγίων ημερών, ο Άγιος Γεώργιος μάς υπενθυμίζει πως η αληθινή δύναμη γεννιέται από την πίστη και την ολοκληρωτική αγάπη προς τον Χριστό. Με το μαρτύριο, την ανδρεία και την ακλόνητη ομολογία του, συνεχίζει να εμπνέει τις καρδιές μας και να μας ενισχύει στις δυσκολίες και στους αγώνες της ζωής.

Ευχαριστούμε από καρδιάς όλους όσοι συμπροσευχήθηκαν μαζί μας και τίμησαν με την παρουσία τους την πανήγυρη της εκκλησίας μας. Η παρουσία, η προσευχή και η αγάπη όλων έκαναν τη χθεσινή ημέρα ακόμη πιο όμορφη και ευλογημένη.

Ευχόμαστε ο Άγιος Γεώργιος να σκεπάζει και να προστατεύει κάθε οικογένεια, να χαρίζει υγεία, ειρήνη, δύναμη και πνευματική παρηγοριά και να οδηγεί όλους μας πάντοτε πιο κοντά στο φως της Αναστάσεως και στην αγάπη του Θεού.
