This day in 370, the bones of St. Andrew are thought shipwrecked at what is now "St. Andrews".

Thus, Scotland's adopted patron saint was thought martyred on an x-shaped cross, now synonymous with Scots, even after Scotch Reformers "lost" the supposed bones.

Today in 1894, court diviner Rainisoalambo of Betsileo 🇲🇬 repents of paganism and fervently reads the Bible. Rainisoalambo had previously sought riches as a "pastor", but God afflicted him. The revival his repentance sparked is still seen every Sunday.

Today in 541, over 520 bishops assemble at the Council of Chalcedon. 🇹🇷 Against teachings that Jesus' humanity was swallowed up by His divinity, they affirmed Jesus has "two natures without confusion, without change, without division, without separation."

On this day in 1946, Prince Albert, Saskatchewan pastor Jack McAlister began the "Tract Club of the Air". 🇨🇦 In 1952, it became the "World Literature Crusade" and, in 1987, "Every Home for Christ". They have distributed over 3 billion gospel tracts.

This day in 366, Pope Liberius dies in Rome. He was exiled for opposing Arianism - the belief Jesus is not fully God. Contemporaries Athanasius, Hilary (both leading opponents of Arianism), & Jerome believed he surrendered to the Arians to return as Pope.

This day in 1575, Heinrich Bullinger, one of the most important leaders of the Swiss Reformation, dies in Zurich. 🇨🇭

He co-authored the Helvetic Confessions & worked with John Calvin to align Reformed & Lutheran Theology, particularly in the Lord's Supper.

This day in 1905, Sundar Singh is baptized in Shimla. 🇮🇳 Unusually hostile to Christianity as a Sikh teen, he had resolved to kill himself unless the true God appeared. He had a vision of Jesus that very night & became an influential Christian missionary.

This day in 1727, the Moravian community in Herrnhut, Saxony begins a round-the-clock "prayer watch" - one group praying together at all times. This commitment lasted for over 100 years. By 1791, the small community had produced 300 foreign missionaries.
