What a beautiful Pentecost celebration at Knox United Church today.

The sanctuary was full of colour, joy, music, Spirit, and community as we celebrated the gift of Pentecost and welcomed six new members into the life of the church.

We are so grateful for the people who said yes today, yes to belonging, yes to community, yes to faith, and yes to walking with Knox in this season of ministry.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the service so meaningful, from worship leadership and music to hospitality, preparation, prayer, and welcome.

The Spirit is moving at Knox, and today was a beautiful reminder that the church is still growing, still gathering, and still becoming.

Welcome to our new members. We are so glad you are here.

May 17 is International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia. Join us today in support of the non-negotiable truth of every person’s dignity.

Creator, we come to you with both the joys and the sorrows of our hearts.
We are grateful for the gift of life and the joy that it can bring.
For families and friends who love us.
For allies who stick up for us, even when we cannot risk sticking up for ourselves.
For the great diversity you have created in our world.
We pray for those who suffer from discrimination because of their gender identity or sexual orientation.
Who worry about their employment or who cannot find a job.
For those who must hide who they are to find housing.
For those who are not safe on our streets.
For those who do not feel safe in their place of worship.
Help us to end homophobia, transphobia, and biphobia, and all forms of discrimination and hate.
Show us the way to make this world a better place for all.

Join us for a joyful evening of music and community at Knox United Church! Hosted by Minister Rev. Keith Murray, this special concert features performances by the Knox Choir, the Knox Rebell Ringers, and talented musicians from our community including David Westwick (mandolin), Gerrit Voordouw (flute), Anne McWhir (piano), with more to be announced. Doors open at 6:30 pm and admission is by donation; all proceeds support Knox’s music ministry.

The United Church of Canada Tells Our Story

Published this week by the national church, on the eve of the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia, observed Sunday, May 17. Our own Graham Louden-Khan, Affirming Lead at Knox, was invited to share Knox's story.

The piece traces over fifty years of Knox working to be a safer, more welcoming space, our 2007 decision to become the first ministry in Calgary to join Affirm United, and the Rainbow Glitter Wall that today stands proudly at the heart of downtown. Most remarkably, the national church chose our own motto as the article's title.

Knox United is truly an open space and a vibrant place of sacred connections.
