This is an evening presentation that offers participants an opportunity to reflect on their existing prayer experience, receive some input on prayer and the spiritual life and then undergo a process that will guide them in shaping their next steps in crafting their unique, prayerful response to GOD’s invitation to deeper intimacy and love.

Take a journey that explores the Landscape of Prayer. Some of the terrain will include certain themes found universally in prayers, the impact one’s image of GOD has on one’s prayer life, how GOD is depicted in the Hebrew and Christian Scriptures, several key insights foundational for the spiritual journey and a pragmatic approach to creating a sustainable prayer life.

A Practice of Listening: What We Carry is a three-hour free session, in-person poetry mini-retreat for up to 15 young people aged 12–20 and 15 to our beloved Senior friends. It offers a creative and reflective pause midway through the school term. Through selected poems, guided listening and discussion, reflection, drafting, and revision, participants will explore qualities such as courage, kindness, integrity, perseverance, friendship, gratitude, and hope—and consider what they wish to carry into the months ahead.

Each participant will have the opportunity to develop an original poem and receive guidance in reading it aloud. Participation in the closing sharing will be entirely voluntary. Parents and guardians may be invited to join the final 25–30 minutes for informal listening and sharing.

- The program will be facilitated in English. Young people from all cultural and language backgrounds are welcome.

- This is a literary and reflective program, open to young people of any faith or none. No religious knowledge or participation is expected.

- Participants should bring a notebook and pen. A workshop packet and supplementary writing materials will be provided. This is a non-residential program.

- Photography, recording, and public sharing will be optional. No participant’s poem, words, image, or voice will be made public without informed, purpose-specific consent. For participants under eighteen, parent or guardian authorization and the young person’s assent will be required. Any proposed publication of a poem or quotation will require further permission after the participant has reviewed the exact material, attribution, and intended use.

Sr. Marjorie Perkins, FCJ born Dec 21, 1931, in Calgary, AB, to Phillis and Lee Perkins, died peacefully on Tuesday, October 20, 2026.

Friends are invited to join the Sisters for prayers at the FCJ Christian Life Centre in the Convent Chapel (219 – 19 Ave. SW, Calgary, AB) on Sunday, October 25, 2026, at 7:00 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at FCJ Christian Life Centre in the Convent Chapel (219 – 19 Ave. SW, Calgary, AB) on Monday, October 26, at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow in the parish hall. Burial will occur in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
