God gifts us in many ways.

Wisdom helps us see from God’s perspective. Piety teaches us to obey out of love. Fortitude gives us the strength and courage to do what we know is for the greater good. Through the gifts of the Holy Spirit, may we grow in faith, love, and purpose each day.

Kick off Senior’s Week on June 1 from 12:45pm - 2:30pm (Session 1); 2:45pm - 4:00pm (Session 2) with an engaging afternoon of connection and discovery. Enjoy refreshments while learning about the upcoming WELL Care program, a free initiative for Seniors 55+ focused on well-being, social connection, and skill-building, running from July to early November at the FCJ Centre.

During the afternoon you will get a mini taster of Chair yoga, and Qigong, and you will be able to tour the Garden with our Master Gardening Team from Calgary Horticultural Society to see what you could be doing in the gardening club.

Happy Friday Friends and Family.

Protect your peace, renew your mind, and remember you don’t have to carry every burden alone. Pray, rest, talk to someone you trust, and trust that God’s grace meets you even on the hard days.

Jesus gives us many invitations as we journey through life. Before he ascended to heaven He gave His Apostles the message, the invitation, to continue His work and spread the Gospel – the Good News! That invitation is ours as well. How are we responding to Jesus’ invitation to collaborate with Him? Each one of us can say: How am I responding to Jesus’ invitation to me? Do I say “Yes”, “No”, or “Maybe”? It is up to each one of us to respond to Jesus as we receive His invitations to collaborate daily – Invitations coming through scripture, through nature, through other people, through the challenges and the joys of our daily life. May we all strive to respond to Jesus’ invitations to us with a resounding “Yes”.

On Thursday morning, May 14, more than 200 people gathered for the annual CIC Breakfast, a room full of faith leaders, advocates, and city representatives all focused on one theme: "Confluence of Faiths." It was a morning of fellowship and reflection on how faith communities can act as the moral backbone of Calgary, especially during what many described as a "hard season" for the city and the world. Representing the FCJ Retreat & Conference Centre were four staff members and one FCJ Sister, joining the conversation on how to bridge the growing divisions in our modern society.

The FCJ Centre recently held a successful Spring Clean-Up event with the help of 22 amazing volunteers, including 10 volunteers from Youth Central.

Together, the volunteers worked hard to refresh and prepare our outdoor spaces for the upcoming planting season. Over the course of the day, the team cleaned and prepared 8 garden beds by clearing dead plants and debris, removing weeds, loosening the soil, and getting the beds ready for planting in the next 2–3 weeks.

Again this week, I want to share with you on Mary, the Mother of Jesus. The month of May, traditionally is the month when we give special notice to Mary, the Mother of Jesus. Not only is she the Mother of Jesus but she is our Mother also. Yes, when Jesus was on the Cross He said to St John “Behold your Mother”. Jesus said that to all of us.

Joan Chittister writes: “Mary, our Mother, is one of Mary’s most common titles. We cling to it all our lives. Why? Because “mothering”, the sense of being cared for and protected, supported and understood is the human being’s primal need.”
