Hughes Baptist Church is a family of disciples living for Jesus in Canberra, Australia. You are welcome here. We have two gatherings every Sunday.

We have a heart for all, for one another, for God & His word, for the mission of Jesus, and to help our community locally. Our vision is to be a dynamic, Christ-centred community, sharing Jesus’ life changing power. We hope you will feel welcome amongst us and feel able to join this little part of the family of believers who share this vision, so that we may encourage each other along the journey of life and faith here in Canberra, here on the South Side. Our Morning Service meets from 9:30am with morning tea to follow and our Evening Service meets from 6:00pm with dinner to follow. We hope to see you at one of our Sunday services and we’d love to get to know you better, connect you in and help integrate you as a part of the community.

An interesting sermon this morning on peace making God’s way. Here’s a summary.

Did you know that for more than 10 years Baptist World Aid has been compiling the ethical fashion guide? They look at which companies know what’s happening in their supply chains and how well they look after the people who make our clothes. A practical example of the song lyrics and biblical mandate to “act justly, love mercy, walk humbly with your God…Micah 6:8”. It’s National baptism week. What’s it all about?

We’ll have a baptism service on 1 November.

If you want to get baptised, talk to Pastor Aidan.

Verses in the Bible about Baptism:

• Matthew 28:19 – The Great Commission on baptizing in the name of the Trinity.
• Romans 6:3–4 – Describes baptism as being buried with Christ and walking in newness of life.
• Acts 2:38 – Connects repentance and baptism in Jesus' name for forgiveness and the Holy Spirit.
• 1 Peter 3:21 – Notes baptism as an appeal to God for a good conscience through Christ's resurrection.
• Galatians 3:27 – States that those baptized into Christ have clothed themselves with Christ.

What does it take to get ready for youth camp?

Tents and bedding are piled up, and branding the team Orange shirts (with glow in the dark logo!!) is underway!!!

Go team Orange (we aren’t competitive at all, or are we?)!!!!

Pray for Marsha Ginn as she gets it all ready and for the youth (and their parents) that they may have a great time and get closer to God.

Can you find the church? The cross is there among the autumn leaves. Lends a whole new meaning to “I’m church hunting”! (Taken from Red Hill near the trig point)

Did you know, we have cool coffee templates and that first time visitors get a free coffee or hot chocolate! I can also confirm that a plate of home made sausage rolls at morning tea takes less than 2 minutes to clear (but I don’t have time stamped photos as proof)!
