# Thanksgiving: The Heart of Gratitude
Scripture: Luke
God is always looking for gratitude from His children. Thanksgiving is powerful because it acknowledges God's goodness and sovereignty in our lives.
In Luke 17:16–17, the healed l***r returned to give thanks to Jesus. Although ten were healed, only one came back to express gratitude. This shows how much God values a thankful heart.
What Happens When You Give Thanks?
#1. You Humble Yourself Before God
Thanksgiving is an act of humility. It recognizes that every blessing comes from God and not from our own strength.
2. You Give God the Praise He Deserves
God alone is worthy of praise. Let your heart overflow with gratitude and let Him see your sincere thanksgiving.
"Serve the Lord with gladness; come before His presence with singing."*
#3. You Acknowledge That All Things Are About Him
We are thankful because everything belongs to God and exists for His glory.
“They shall come, and shall declare His righteousness unto a people that shall be born, that He hath done this."*
When you understand the power of praise and thanksgiving, doors begin to open, your faith is strengthened, and your focus shifts from problems to God's faithfulness.
Do People Fail at the Gate of Praise?
#1. Offense Toward God
Sometimes people become discouraged, disappointed, or offended when things do not happen as they expect. This can hinder a heart of thanksgiving.
2. Failure to Give Thanks
Many receive blessings but forget to return thanks to God. Gratitude is often the evidence of genuine faith.
# 3. Pride
Pride causes people to take credit for what God has done. A proud heart struggles to give thanks, but a humble heart continually acknowledges God as the source of every good thing.
To God Alone be the Glory🙏
