Wednesday’s Word

“Clean on the Outside, Dirty on the Inside”

A fire truck can look spotless on the outside—polished, washed and ready to respond. But if the equipment is dirty, and neglected or the tank is empty, or something is wrong underneath, its appearance means very little when the call comes.

Jesus used a similar picture when He spoke about the cup:
“First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean.” — Matthew 23:26

It’s easy to look the part—wear the uniform, carry the Bible, serve at church, and appear strong.

But God is not only interested in what people see on the outside. He looks at what is happening inside.

This week, don't just polish the outside.
Let God clean the inside.

Because a clean truck is good for appearances—but a clean heart is ready for service.

Frontline Challenge:
Before you respond to the next call, take a moment to let God check your heart before your equipment.
“Clean the heart. Serve with purpose. Reflect Christ.”

THE FIRST ONE THERE

THe security guard jumped the wall and became the first person to see the aftermath of a double su***de.

No training can prepare you for that moment.

The scene ends—but what you have seen doesn’t always end with it.

Later, he sat quietly in the vehicle with Jenn and her emotional-support dog Maddi from Frontline of Hope. There were no sirens now. No urgency. Just presence.

The dog didn’t need to understand what had happened. She simply needed to be there.

Because sometimes the person who arrives first at the tragedy is the one who needs someone to arrive for them.

“The LORD is close to the brokenhearted.”
— Psalm 34:18

Today marked a powerful milestone as we celebrated the completion of the Trauma Support Course at Frontline of Hope Ministries. Walking through pain toward healing takes immense courage, and this journey stands as a testament to resilience, renewal, and the life-changing power of restoration.

"He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." — Psalm 147:3

May this closing day simply be the beginning of walking in lasting freedom and serving as a beacon of hope and comfort to others.

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God."

— 2 Corinthians 1:3–4

A full weekend on the frontline for Frontline of Hope Ministries.

From responding to scene call-outs and standing alongside families in their most vulnerable moments, to stepping into the classroom to present Day 1 of our Trauma Support Course, our mission remains clear: bring light into dark spaces and equip others to do the same.

Watching a new group of trauma support mediators take their first steps into this calling is a powerful reminder that hope multiplies when we train hands and hearts to serve.

Thank you to everyone who keeps our teams in prayer as we respond, serve, and train.

WEDNESDAY’S WORD

Sacrifice of Compassion

“Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.”
— 2 Timothy 2:3

Greetings Frontliners and Friends!

As we enter August, I want to take a moment to recognise the silent warriors on the frontline — our volunteers.

They often arrive without being called, give their time without expecting payment, spend their own resources, and step into difficult situations simply because someone needs help.

They may not wear the biggest badge or receive recognition, but their sacrifice matters.

Jesus showed us what true compassion looks like. He gave without expecting anything in return. He served without seeking recognition. He sacrificed because He loved.

To every volunteer who gives their time, energy, resources and heart to help others:

We see you.
We appreciate you.
We salute you.

Never underestimate what your willingness to serve can mean to someone on the worst day of their life.

Your purpose makes an impact.

Prayer:
Lord, bless every volunteer who serves on the frontline. Strengthen them where they are tired, protect them where they are vulnerable, and remind them that their sacrifice is seen by You. Use their hands, their hearts and their compassion to bring hope to those who need it. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Serve without recognition.
Give without expectation.
Love without condition.

Your sacrifice of compassion makes a difference.

Have a blessed day,
Lance Oosthuizen
Your bondservant in Christ Jesus

“Ware grootheid lê nie in wat ons bereik nie, maar in wie ons word wanneer ander hulp nodig het…”

Hierdie foto was geneem tydens ‘n ongelukstoneel waar ‘n voetganger raak gery was.

Today we pause to honor the remarkable women who serve on the frontlines with courage, compassion, and unwavering faith. Whether you wear the uniform of a police officer, paramedic, firefighter, security officer, nurse, volunteer, animal rescuer, or serve your community in countless unseen ways—your willingness to carry the burdens of others reflects the heart of Christ.

“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” — Galatians 6:2 (NIV)

Your strength is not measured only by the challenges you overcome, but by the hope you bring to those who need it most. Every life you touch, every hand you hold, every sacrifice you make, and every act of kindness leaves a lasting impact.

May God continue to strengthen your hands, guard your hearts, and renew your spirit as you faithfully serve others.

“She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.” — Proverbs 31:25 (NIV)

To every woman on the frontline: We see you. We honor you. We thank God for you.

Happy Women’s Day!

What a special day! Today, Frontline of Hope had the absolute privilege of joining Sekuriteit Sonder Grense and ER24 for a wonderful career day at a local preschool.

While the emergency teams showed off their amazing gear, our team shared a gentle, important message with the little ones: who you can talk to when your heart is hurting.

A massive thank you to the school for opening your doors to us, and to Sekuriteit Sonder Grense and ER24 for your incredible professionalism and enthusiasm with the kids. Check out the video below to see our demonstration in action!

Matthew 19:14 (NIV)

As followers of Christ, perhaps our greatest ministry isn’t always found in the words we speak, but in becoming people who make others feel safe enough to open their hearts.

Sometimes healing begins with a conversation.

Sometimes a conversation begins with trust.

And sometimes trust begins with a wagging tail.

“Let the little children come to Me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” — Matthew 19:14

Thank you, Jenn, for using your gifts to build bridges where fear once stood. And thank you, FedEx, for reminding us that God can use even a four-legged servant to open doors that words alone never could.
