Statement Issued by the Legal Team of JCI
The Legal Team of JCI notes the claims circulating that the property will be converted into a call centre creating 1,500 jobs, and that the church is being portrayed as an obstacle to development. These assertions are being presented publicly as though they are established fact, when in reality the matter is currently before the courts and remains legally contested.
Any narrative suggesting that JCI is acting unlawfully, unreasonably, or in bad faith is rejected.
JCI has a longstanding record of measurable and meaningful social impact within the community, and it is inappropriate for that work to be mischaracterised in public discourse.
If any party maintains allegations of wrongdoing or obstruction, the appropriate forum for such claims is a court of law, where evidence can be properly tested under oath. Public commentary cannot replace judicial determination.
There are evident political undertones in the manner in which this issue is being framed. However, the Legal Team of JCI will not engage in political rhetoric or speculation. The matter will be addressed through proper legal channels, where evidence and legal principles — not public commentary — will determine the outcome.
JCI remains fully compliant with all applicable legal requirements and respects the integrity of the judicial process. Further public engagement on the substance of the dispute will be limited while proceedings are ongoing.
