Our LUCSA Health Officer is reporting an increase of HIV/AIDS infections amongst young people. This is a concern and challenges churches to teach on Positive Sexuality, which is not only about sexual identity but is also about sexual conduct. Churches have a knee-jerk reaction in teaching about this from Children's Ministry, but the reality is that at confirmation age, teenagers are already sexually active and unfortunately also victims of sexual predators.

A great presentation for Children's Ministry at Brits Parish, Oukasie Congregation. An example on how to assimilate this ministry in worship service❤️

Pentecost dramatisation by Children's Ministry teachers in Botswana.

24/05/2026

As we celebrate Pentecost, let us acknowledge what the Holy Spirit does.

I believe that I cannot by my own reason or strength believe in Jesus Christ, my Lord, or come to Him; but the Holy Spirit has called me by the Gospel, enlightened me with His gifts, sanctified and kept me in the true faith.

In the same way He calls, gathers, enlightens, and sanctifies the whole Christian church on earth, and keeps it with Jesus Christ in the one true faith.

In this Christian church He daily and richly forgives all my sins and the sins of all believers.

On the Last Day He will raise me and all the dead, and give eternal life to me and all believers in Christ.

This is most certainly true.

Christian education in the Lutheran context is a lifelong journey of faith that integrates faith into every aspect of learning. It's based on the belief that God's Spirit is active in the lives of the community.

✨ Kagisong Conference Centre – Botswana ✨
The LUCSA Combined Churches Christian Education Workshop, is meeting at a place where history, dialogue, and transformation meet.
Kagisong is not only a premier venue for workshops, conferences, and community gatherings—it also carries deep historical significance. During the South African liberation struggle, Kagisong served as a safe space for exiled leaders, activists, and churches to meet, strategise, and strengthen the fight against apartheid. It became a hub of solidarity, where voices for justice and freedom found shelter and strength.
🌍 Today, Kagisong continues that legacy—hosting events that build unity, empower communities, and inspire new visions for Southern Africa.
📌 Rooted in Botswana, remembered in history, alive in mission.
As the workshop draws to conclusion, we are happy to be part of this history of dialogue and transformation.

Reflections from the eMseni Christian Centre in Benoni!
We are currently midway through the “Preaching Hope in a Changing World” Conference, which began on Tuesday, April 21. It has been an incredibly fruitful time of learning and fellowship for our 40 participants, including lay preachers, trainers, and our dedicated planning team.
Since arriving, we have dived deep into the theological foundations of hope, explored Lutheran hermeneutics, and shared the unique contexts of our various church bodies. Friday has been particularly powerful as various workshops were offered ranging from "Bibliolog", “Sermon Preparation” "Preaching a Gospel that sets free."
Looking Ahead:
The journey isn't over yet! We are eagerly anticipating:
Sunday’s Congregation Visits:
• We will be heading out in groups for Sunday services to Midrand, Nordrand Gemeinde, Tshwane City Parish in Pretoria, and Thembisa to worship together in diverse settings.
Monday & Tuesday:
• We will shift our focus toward evaluation and, most importantly, brainstorming concrete steps for future regional cooperation.

This week has thus far proven that lay ministry is a vital heartbeat of our faith.
Please keep us in your prayers as we head into these final days of growth and planning!

📢 Workshop Conclusion: Foundations of Effective Christian Leadership – Governance, Diaconia & Mission
Today we concluded a powerful and inspiring workshop focused on building confident, spiritually grounded, and community rooted Christian leaders. We reflected on the heart of Christian leadership through governance, service (Diaconia), and mission, and how these shape healthy ministry and strong congregations.
Participants highlighted real challenges such as confidence barriers, fear, unclear roles, limited support, and resource constraints, but also affirmed that prayer, fellowship, mentorship, and emotional intelligence are essential tools for growth. In line with the Moravian tradition, we were reminded that church governance exists not to control, but to bring unity, accountability, and orderly leadership within the Body of Christ.
Across all groups, a clear message emerged:
✨ Confidence grows through support and spiritual grounding
✨ Leadership requires collaboration, transparency, and healthy boundaries
✨ Practical training and mentorship are urgently needed
✨ Serving others in humility reflects Christ’s example
✨ Mission and proclamation remain central to our calling
Next Steps:
• The MCSA Gauteng Regional Leadership will determine what the next steps will be, after done a way forward brainstorming session with the participants
As LUCSA-CE, we celebrate every contribution made today. May the outcomes of this workshop continue to ignite confident, compassionate, and mission driven leaders who serve with humility and strengthen the unity of our Church. 🌿🙌✨
