Good working relationships in the house of God
Before we go to heaven we are brothers and sisters.
Gen 13:8-9 EasyEnglish 8 Abram said to Lot, ‘We must not quarrel with each other. Your herdsmen and my herdsmen must not quarrel with each other. There must be no more quarrelling because we belong to the same family.’ 9 ‘The whole land is in front of you. We must separate. If you go to the left, I will go to the right. If you go to the right, I will go to the left.’
Strife involves bitterness and violence sometimes.
Rom 12:5 EasyEnglish In the same way, we are many people but we are united to Christ like one body. And we belong to each other, like the different parts of one body belong to each other.
We depend on one another. We are many but we are one.
Rom 12:10 EasyEnglish Love each other like brothers and sisters who belong to the same family. Each of you should think about the other Christians as more important than you yourself are.
Eph 4:3 EasyEnglish Do your best to let God’s Spirit keep you united as friends, without any trouble between you.
Work hard to keep peace. Put effort to make peace. Whether it seems not workable, try hard. Live in peace with your neighbour. We are brothers and sisters.
Act 2:46 EasyEnglish The whole group of believers met together every day in the Great House of God. They ate their meals together in each other’s homes and they were all very happy together. They thanked God for everything.
The church is not an audience but a body of Christ. All of us make the church. No one is useless in the house of God. We are all useful with different abilities and potential. The body functions with all body parts. All of them play a role. When members don't relate well, one member is offended, the whole body will not work. We all function differently.
1Co 12:26 EasyEnglish Then if one part of the body hurts, every other part hurts with it. Or perhaps people say that one part is doing well. Then every part is happy.
The church grows when the members have good work relationships. A human being is a spirit. You can feel where you are loved or where you are not welcome.
Joh 17:21 KJV That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
When we are one we begin to help each other. My success is your success. No divisions. Same vision. When you celebrate, we celebrate together. When you rise, we rise together.
1Pe 4:8 KJV And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.
Where love is, working together is easy. When your other member did not do well, you don't go about talking about it. 80% of problems in church come from gossip. Talking about, creates problems. Our talk should edify. Edify that person. Don't talk about that person.
Endeavour to keep unity. You have to steward a relationship to keep it working. Unity doesn't come only after prayer. It needs us to implement. Work hard to keep unity.
Envying and strife. Murmurings. Complaiming. Cliques in the church. These don't make us one. Offenses that date way back without being addressed. Offenses always come. You can be offended forever. Tolerance is important in church. We are very different. Some are too fast. Others are too slow. In church, understand others.
Forgiveness is like oil that keeps the engine running. The oil for the church to enjoy the blessings of God is forgiveness.
Mar 11:25 KJV And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.
Unforgiveness kills good working relationships. We have to love each other, not ignore each other. We are not allowed to look down on each other.
We are called to serve, to minister to each other. You don't only minister to the Pastor, but to other believers as well. When one of us is in need, we help without conditions.
We participate. We have accountability of each other.
Psalms 133
1 A Song of degrees of David. Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
2 It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments;
3 As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.
Joh 13:34-35 KJV 34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. 35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
