THE HOPE OF HEAVEN (3)
“But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.””
I Corinthians 2:9 NKJV
As I mentioned in yesterday’s devotional, Jesus is the real reason that heaven is actually heaven. Therefore expressed like this- No Jesus, really, no heaven.
However, having said that, because Jesus is there, heaven is also a place that He has invited us to come to, when our life on earth here is complete. Now, just to make it clear, the ONLY way to heaven is through Jesus Christ, and being born again.
In other words, good people don’t go to heaven, but those who have received the free gift of salvation, do. And a reminder; to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord as a born again believer, in heaven- 2 Corinthians 5:8.
Heaven is a remarkable place, FULL of love, peace, joy, faith, hope, health, life, laughter, celebration, comfort, family, unity, harmony and the list just goes on and on.
Yes there are streets of pure gold (and no potholes), and yes there is pure and perfect light there (and definitely no load shedding) and yes there are all kinds of precious stones there (with no stealing). Yes, it is an out of this world place as I’ve said before, and I personally cannot wait to get there. (I’m not trying to escape, but it sure would be nice if Jesus came to fetch us to go there, now.)
In our opening scripture heaven is revealed as a place that is far, far, far beyond anything we have ever seen, heard or even imagined. No matter how magnificent or beautiful or even glorious we may have witnessed things on this earth, what is coming, and what is prepared for us, is far, far, far greater.
We need to live with this anticipated perspective that soon and very soon we are going to be with our Lord Jesus in that wonderful place called heaven.
This has to stir great hope within us, and so no matter what we might be experiencing at this time, good or bad, the BEST IS YET TO COME.
Colossians 3:2 tells us to set our minds and our affections on things above and not on the things of this earth. That is a good doing word for us. Let’s just do it.✔️✔️✔️✔️
