The Ken & Rená McAllister School of Music (KRMSM), founded in 2010, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit Christian music camp committed to inspiring the next generation by teaching music theory, shape notes, and harmony—completely free to students and their families. Each year, students go to music camp to learn and have fun. Class lasts for about 6-7 hours a day where the students learn basic music theory, s
hape notes, what each note means, and how to beat to the music. After class, they get to have fun and meet new friends. It is so much fun, we talk about it for weeks after it ends. Rules are strict to keep our children safe in the eyes of God. On December 24, 2014, Bro. Ken received his Angel Wings to sing in the Heavenly Choir. It would have been so easy for Sis. Rena to say, "I can't do it." But, she preservered and put our kids first. This is a very large undertaking with months of preparation and hours each day of planning. She has lots of help from her son, Bro. Eric and his wife, Sis. Amber and the support of her spouse, Bro. But now, its time for us parents to step up and help to relieve some of the burden and stress this can cause. We need to do our part to help raise money so the Ken & Rena McAllister Music Camp can continue. Since it's so expensive, she will have to make it an every other year event. Rena agreed that if we can raise the money, she will do it next year! Bro. Ken and Sis. Rena did not want to charge a camp fee fearing it would knock some kids out of learning afraid that their parents couldn't afford it. Each year, she has to find a place to rent for the week. This year, there were 160 kids and 40 adults +/- that attended Music Camp. The facilities average around $10,000-$15,000 per week if we find a place with overnight stay and large banquet rooms that can accommodate everyone. Breakfast and Lunch are provided for all people and it's good food, not hot dogs every meal, so this is also a large portion of the funds needed. Thankfully, many churches have stepped up to help. Some provide lunch or dinner and many smaller churches donate money to relieve the food costs. The local summer school program has also helped. When providing 15 meals, this is also a huge expense that has been relieved. Our GO FUND ME page is to keep Bro. Ken's spirit alive and continue Music Camp for future generations. Any donation would be greatly appreciated. If you have any questions, please contact Me!!!
