Revelation 3:20

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

Bears have not come down from the mountains yet because the Salmon are not running. Yet my daughter and son-in-law encountered a bear that had overturned a garbage can and was eating the contents. Sadly, this describes the situation of most people. The flesh and the devil offer us garbage in the form of sin, which we eagerly consume. However, God has a far greater meal prepared for us and eagerly waits for our presence. How do we gain access to the feast? It begins by accepting Jesus as Savior and Lord. It is only through Him that we may enter the feast. Then ask to be filled with the Holy Spirit. He is our great teacher and the giver of gifts. Then seek Him through prayer and Bible study because Jesus is eager to have fellowship with you, and if you will but ask Him to come into your heart, he will enter and provide a great spiritual feast. Today, you have the choice: eat the garbage or enjoy the feast. May God richly bless your day!

Psalm 19:1

The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.

The logs, huge logs, lie against the edge of the forest. Their location is evidence of a time when the water levels were much higher. Evidence that some great force was at work at some point in the past. People often ask me where I get my ideas for my devotionals. The answer is simple: I look around. The evidence of something greater is all around us if we will but open our eyes and look. All the creation testifies to the creativity, majesty, and power of God. Yet this same God wants a personal relationship with you. He makes Himself evident through all of creation. The greatest revelation of Himself is through Jesus Christ. All you have to do is open your heart, and you will see evidence of something greater. So why wait? Open your eyes and see. May God richly bless your day!

Mark 4:39

And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

The ship is rocking and rolling. The Pacific is very active this morning. As a result, standing and walking are quite a challenge. However, once we were in the inner channel, the water settled, and we were able to move about quite comfortably. In life, there are times of storminess and times of calm. The Disciples of Jesus encountered such a time. Crossing the Sea of Galilee, a terrible storm arose. Try as they might, they were unable to stand against the storm. Stop for a moment and think about the fact that at least four were fishermen who had spent their lives upon the water. Yet despite their experience and skill, they were unable to withstand the storm. At that moment when hope had abandoned them, and death seemed inevitable, they turned to Jesus. Waking Him, they pleaded to Him, and He spoke three words, “Peace, be still,” and the storm immediately stopped because, despite its power, Jesus is the creator and sovereign Lord of all, including the storm. So, when the storms arise in your life, and all of your knowledge and experience fails you, turn to Jesus. But why wait? Turn to Him today because He remains the Lord of all. May God richly bless your day!

Psalms 47:6

Sing praises to God, sing praises: sing praises unto our King, sing praises.

As I sit in my chair, I am being treated to a free concert. Each morning, God provides these wonderful singers who sit outside my window and entertain me as I enjoy my morning coffee. It is a glorious beginning to the day as the birds offer up their songs to the heavens. I cannot help but think that we, too, should join them in singing praises to the Almighty for the goodness He has bestowed upon us. Perhaps you are going through a trying and difficult time and think, “What goodness and mercy.” Stop for a moment and look around you. I am sure that there are others living near you who are in worse shape. Consider also the plight of so many in our world who are suffering from horrific diseases, extreme poverty, health issues, and war. When we look beyond ourselves, we can find many reasons to praise God. Let us praise Him because He is on the throne in Heaven. Let us praise Him because He knows and cares for each of us. Let us praise Him, because He has a glorious eternity planned for each of us. Because one day, all the injustice and evil of this present age will be destroyed. Finally, let us praise Him because He sent His Son to pay the price for our sins in order that we might inherit eternal life. So, as you begin this day, take the time to sing praises unto the Lord. May God richly bless your day!
