Jesus is remarkably more honest about our suffering than we are.

This weekend, Jake reminded us that we spend so much time putting on a mask. We pretend everything is fine. We pretend the waiting is easy. But there are seasons we find ourselves in that are simply difficult. We sit in the in-between spaces. We hear Jesus say it will be a little while, and we demand explanations because we want a calendar. We want to be in control.

We feel pressed. You might feel pressed financially, relationally, or by a grief nobody sitting next to you even knows about.

In the middle of that pressure, we are left with a quiet question. Where have you been quietly asking your circumstances to give you only what Jesus can give you?

We constantly want an outcome to bring us relief. Yet peace has a very specific location. Complete wholeness exists entirely in a person.

You do not have to pull yourself up by your bootstraps today. Jesus knows your weakness. Your failure does not surprise Him. He knew His disciples were about to scatter, and He still looked at them and commanded them to take heart. Our courage roots itself solely in His victory. We can live courageously before the story is resolved because our peace is located entirely in Him.
