Here is a rundown of events for Memorial Day here at Sugar Grove.

Sun. 24th
- 8am - Annual placing of Flags on graves - Free breakfast follows at Wilmington Veterans American Legion Post 49

Mon. 25th
- 9am - Clinton County Veterans Memorial Brick Reading at Clinton County Veteran Memorial on Main & S. Walnut St.
- 9:30am - American Flag mural dedication on Buckley Bros. Silos in KFC parking lot
- 10am - Memorial Day Parade begins at Post 49 and ends at Sugar Grove Cemetery followed by service here at Soldiers Point.

Do you know these Men? Post 49's Honor Guard serves this community well by attending military funerals and ceremonies like the Wreaths event last weekend. Volunteering for our service were Tim Adams, John Ames, Jim Cook, Wayne Davidson, Harold Schnatz, Russell Smith, Mike Sutton, and Anthony Smith. We thank these men and the others that volunteer for their service to our country and this community.

A huge shoutout to Jack Rose for all his efforts in this year’s WAA Ceremony. Each year he organizes the individuals who place wreaths for each branch of service and helps in the fundraising that goes into the donation that the Legion Post 49 makes to purchasing all the wreaths. This year, Jack was quick to volunteer to speak at the ceremony when I fell ill just before the service.

There are many who volunteer their time and money to the veterans of Sugar Grove and Clinton County that deserve recognition. From the Honor Guard, Veteran Service Commission, and many throughout the community. I cannot express how grateful I am to all of you.
