"I am grateful that our Heavenly Father has provided a sacred place (Temples) for us to receive the necessary ordinances to return to Him and to enable us to be eternally united to our families.

I know in my heart and my soul that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the Lord's church on the earth and that we are led by prophets and apostles. We are led by ongoing revelation from His prophets and Heavenly Father gives that revelation.

I know in my heart that Joseph Smith, Jr restored Heavenly Father's church in 1830 and that he did see God the Father and His son Jesus Christ in 1820. I have a solid, firm testimony of these things. And I declare it to the world. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen. "

So excited to announce that the Wichita Kansas Temple Open House and Dedication dates have been announced by the First Presidency of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

A media day for the Wichita Kansas Temple will be held on Monday, September 21, 2026. Invited guests will tour the temple on September 22 and 23. Doors will open to the public from Thursday, September 24, through Saturday, October 10 (excluding Sundays and Saturday, October 3).

Elder Patrick Kearon of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles will preside at the dedication on Sunday, November 1, at 10 a.m. (rebroadcast at 2 p.m.). The dedicatory session will be broadcast to congregations in the Wichita Kansas Temple district.

Beautiful depictions of sunflowers and wheat stalks are found in the art glass and interior decorations of the Wichita Kansas Temple. The elegant motif honors Kansas as a top agricultural state, earning it nicknames like The Sunflower State (official), The Wheat State, and The Breadbasket of the World. The temple stands in the state's largest city where more than 400,000 people reside. Construction began over 16 months ago. (Photo: Michael Dawson)
