Do what Thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law!!
There are many debates among pagans, thelemites, and magick practitioners on if the nature of the gods, angels, demons, etc is internal, ie in our minds, or external.
There are also people who are concerned that Thelema, if approached from anything short of an orthodox traditional angle, will be watered down at best, distorted and chipped away at at worst.
All of these concerns are valid to both have and to express.
In response to a brother expressing concern that our altar is perhaps too New Age to be Thelemic, seeing the multitude of god statues and what not on it, I wrote a response via my personal Facebook.
(We do have a proper Thelemic altar with a stele and all things as they should be which is kept completely and totally private. The one posted on this page is not that.)
What follows is my opinion, and is in no way gospel. I may be wrong, and if I find myself to be wrong, as has often happened in my life, my tune will change in accordance with the evidence presented to me. Its not binding, and other people have just as much of a right to their thoughts on things as I do to mine.

“If the gods are “real” or not, external, internal, or both, or merely aspects of ourselves, each one has something to teach us about our own soul.
The main character in all mythologies isn’t the character themselves, it’s us wearing that character’s costume. Union with the gods, with the experiences of life, is union with ourselves. The exploration of all that we are, the bringing of the subconscious to consciousness, the continuous unfolding of our own Godhood.
Working with deity is a timeless approach to spiritual growth, and old aeon or new, the path starts as devotion, and leads to identifying oneself with Them.
Countless images have assisted humans in this way concerning expansion of consciousness by this manner since the Dawn of time.
And I love them dearly for it.”

Devotion, love, and engagement with the divine is a good thing. Love calls us to unite ourselves with that which we love. When we love higher things, we draw closer to them. If you draw closer to any True God, if by nothing else but learning the method, you may find yourself drawn closer to All.
I love all of them, and what is written above is how I both understand and approach things at this time.
The creation of this altar was not to mix systems, although perhaps it does, nor was it to convert anyone or to impose anything on anyone else.
It is a creation from the heart that we decided to make public out of love and joy, how much better if it brings benefit to others as well?
If it’s not your thing, that’s okay! You do your Will, that’s not for us to determine one way or another. Just know that we support all people fully in doing that.
Thank you for listening to my Ted Talk, and I hope this clears some things up.
Love is the Law, Love Under Will
