Beacon-The Cross Bridge at Buckhorn – by Dr. Larry Atkins, DAC/D.Min, May 24, 2026
Today is Memorial Day Sunday, a day to think about the future of those who have gone before us, some to eternal life and some to eternal damnation in the Lake of Fire. It is a very serious matter to reject Your Creator who made You. You are His for His purpose.
I am now reading through Hosea this week. I am reminded that even Israel, those God chose to be His people to model His commands for why He created them, but were included in His judgment for rejecting Him and entertaining false helpless hopeless gods (Hosea 7:13).
Memorial Day ought to cause us to think about where we will spend eternity. Jesus said there are only two places and He was the only way to heaven (John 14:6). I recognize that only God knows for sure who accepted Him and thus, has written their names in the Lambs Book of Life (Revelation 13:8, 20:12, 15). One’s name is written in this book when one truly believes in God’s Son as Lord (see John 3:15-16, 36, & 5:24). Paul tells us salvation is by faith (believing) in Jesus Christ alone to receive grace alone (Ephesians 2:8-9). They shall not perish but have everlasting life! Have you made sure of your destiny.
Today, I will share about those resurrections both unto eternal life and unto eternal damnation. When the Apostle John was told, “Come up hither” He was caught up into heaven with a mighty trumpet call (Revelation 4:1-3). First, Jesus was resurrected as the first fruit. In like manner, the dead in Christ, the Bride of Christ shall be caught up at the rapture of the church so that the Holy Spirit is removed for the Great Tribulation of God’s wrath against evil.
Jesus is coming soon! REST in His safe, secure, serene, sufficient, strong, significant, satisfying, sanctifying arms. Nike! Hyper/Victors! Romans 8:37. Overcomers! More than conquerors!

How important is Jesus Christ to you? How you answer this question may determine your eternal destiny. I, like Dr. Adrian Rogers do not think one’s decision to follow Christ determines one’s salvation. According to Dr. Rogers, it is one’s present walk and daily surrender to Jesus Christ.
Another revealing question is, “What do you think about your sin?” Do you excuse it or think that your little sins are not that bad? Remember, our sin put Jesus on the cross for us. Even the slightest sin demands a qualified sacrifice and only Jesus met ever demand of the wrath of God which is righteous demand of the holy God.
So, how important is Jesus Christ to you as well as your hate for sin which took His life? Following Him is the very most precious important thing I do. Therefore, I must hate sin. No one lives sinless but we can live more godly with Jesus in our lives. Do you live each day just loving Jesus and live for Him? That is the assurance I have that my decision ware really real!
We will continue our study of end time events today. We are in the Revelation of Jesus Christ, chapter 1. It is a further exaltation of Jesus Christ as predicted in Daniel 7. It has been a few years since I preached on these subjects. I will try to make sense of much of the book of Revelation. If you have questions about this, don’t hesitate to ask. Be absolutely sure of your own salvation by living for Jesus daily. Only with this confidence (real faith) (Ephesians 2:8-9) can one be ready for death, come what may; or for the snatching away of the saints when Jesus comes in the clouds.
Jesus is coming soon! REST in His safe, secure, serene, sufficient, strong, significant, satisfying, sanctifying arms. Nike! Hyper/Victors! Romans 8:37. Overcomers! More than conquerors!
