Beacon – The Cross Bridge at Buckhorn – by Dr. Larry T. Atkins for August 23, 2026.
We are about to make it through the end time series most of which came out of Revelation, the final book of the New Testament. It is a blessed thing that we have this book recorded in this New Covenant of Jesus Christ. Think about how incomplete it would be without it. Much like, if we did not have the wonderful book of Genesis in the Old Testament. Many question both books, but God knows best and He included them to enhance and build our faith in Him. From Genesis to Revelation, Jesus is the only true hero. I am leary about those who make it about others. Someone said a long time ago, I begin with a scripture and head straight to the cross of Christ. Without His message, there really is NO message or gospel. Jesus is Lord and King!
Today, we begin the message which is about heaven or being with God. Revelation 21:3 reads, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with (man) mankind and He will dwell with them and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God.” He desires a people and His saints desire Him as well. O the glory He gives as we dwell with Him.
We then have a word about all that will be absent from His presence as we look here (see verses 4, 8, & 27), No more tears, death, sorrow, crying, or pain for they have all passed away. Then He says the cowardly, unbelievers, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters and all liars shall have not part there, but their part is in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone which is the second death. This is not a description of a party in the lake of fire, but these will be in torment there forever.
Look, God is making all things new (v. 5). He then describes Himself. He is the Alpha and Omaga, the Beginning and the End, the only Fountain of eternal life. The Apostle John is then shown the bride, the Lamb’s wife (v. 9) safe in the New Jerusalem (v. 10),
Have you ever desired an ice-cream cone or maybe a diamond ring? How much greater and better are all these things of God than anything this earth can give. It was George Beverly Shay that wrote “I’d rather have Jesus, than anything this old world affords today!”
Jesus is coming soon! REST in His safe, secure, serene, significant, strong, sufficient, satisfying, sanctifying arms. Nike! Hyper-Victors! (Romans 8:37).
