Day 5: Exposed by the Light
The Pharisees asked Jesus, “Where is your Father?” This question exposed their ignorance. They did not know God. Jesus said if they knew Him, they would know the Father. They were physically near the large temple lamps. Yet they remained in spiritual darkness. They could not seize Jesus because His hour had not come.

Jesus exposes the true condition of every heart. His light reveals sin and spiritual blindness. He came on a mission to save. His hour was the cross. There He demonstrated ultimate grace. He died to bring sinners into the light. He rose to give them life.

Jesus’ light still exposes our hearts today. It shows us where we are blind. It leads us to repentance and life. What sin is His light revealing in you that needs His grace?

“Then they asked him, “Where is your Father?” “You know neither me nor my Father,” Jesus answered. “If you knew me, you would also know my Father.” He spoke these words by the treasury, while teaching in the temple. But no one seized him, because his hour had not yet come.”
(John 8:19–20, CSB)

Prayer: Ask Jesus to expose any hidden sin so you can confess it.
Challenge: Spend five minutes in silent prayer, inviting the Holy Spirit to shine light on your heart.

Day 4: The Father's Testimony
Jesus dismantled the Pharisees' argument. He said even their law required two witnesses. He presented two witnesses: Himself and the Father. He called it "your law," showing He came to fulfill it, not be condemned by it. The Father’s testimony confirmed Jesus’ identity.

The entire Old Testament points to Jesus. The prophets foretold His coming. The Father’s witness through Scripture is clear. The Pharisees perverted the law’s use. They made it oppressive. Their twisted application revealed hearts that rejected the light. They preferred darkness.

We have the full testimony of Scripture. It all points to Jesus. We must see Him as the central figure of the Bible. Do you read the Old Testament looking for glimpses of Christ?

“Even in your law it is written that the testimony of two witnesses is true. I am the one who testifies about myself, and the Father who sent me testifies about me.”
(John 8:17–18, CSB)

Prayer: Ask God to open your eyes to see Jesus throughout all of Scripture.
Challenge: Read Isaiah 9:2 and write down how it points to Jesus.

Day 3: The Pharisees' Rejection
The Pharisees immediately challenged Jesus. They said His testimony about Himself was invalid. They tried to use a technicality from the law. They quoted the need for two witnesses. They demonstrated a hardened heart. They rejected the light because they did not know God.

Jesus explained that His testimony was true. He knew His divine origin and mission. They judged by human standards. They were spiritually blind. Jesus said if they knew Him, they would know the Father. Their rejection exposed their true condition. They remained in the darkness they loved.

Many people today reject Jesus for technical reasons. They prefer human standards over divine truth. They remain in spiritual blindness. Do you ever rely on human reasoning to dismiss God’s clear word?

“So the Pharisees said to him, “You are testifying about yourself. Your testimony is not valid.” Jesus replied, “Even if I testify about myself, my testimony is true, because I know where I came from and where I’m going. But you don’t know where I come from or where I’m going. You judge by human standards. I judge no one.”
(John 8:13–15, CSB)

Prayer: Confess any tendency to judge God’s word by your own limited understanding.
Challenge: Underline a verse in Scripture that challenges your reasoning and choose to believe it.

Day 2: Never Walk in Darkness
Jesus made an absolute promise to His followers. He said they would never walk in darkness. The Greek words mean never, ever. This is a permanent guarantee. It is based on His power, not our performance. He holds His people securely. No one can sn**ch them from His hand.

This security comes from Jesus alone. He redeems and He alone saves. Our relationship with Him is inseparable. We no longer belong to the darkness of this world. We belong to the light of His kingdom. Our safety and peace are found only in Him.

If you belong to Christ, you cannot walk away from His grace. You are held by His power. You can rest in this security. It does not depend on your strength. It depends on His faithful hold on you. Do you truly believe you are secure in Christ’s hand?

“I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one will sn**ch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all. No one is able to sn**ch them out of the Father’s hand.”
(John 10:28–29, CSB)

Prayer: Thank Jesus for His powerful grip that holds you forever.
Challenge: Identify one fear about your security in Christ and replace it with this promise.

Day 1: The Light of the World
Jesus stood in the temple during the festival. The large lamps were lit for the ceremony. He spoke to the crowd with divine authority. He said, "I am the light of the world." This was the second great I AM statement. He promised that anyone who follows Him will never walk in darkness. They will have the light of life.

Jesus is not just any light. He is the true and greater Light. He is the one promised in the Old Testament. He is God in the flesh. His light cannot be extinguished. It shines permanently on those who belong to Him. This light brings a permanent change from death to life. It offers a way out of the darkness of sin.

You have two choices. You can receive Christ and live in His light. Or you can remain in the darkness of sin and death. There is no middle ground. His declaration demands a response. Will you step into His light today? What area of your life feels most shrouded in darkness right now?

“I am the light of the world. Anyone who follows me will never walk in the darkness but will have the light of life.”
(John 8:12, CSB)

Prayer: Ask Jesus to reveal Himself as the true Light to you today.
Challenge: Write down one area of spiritual confusion you need Jesus to illuminate.
