We are instructed by God to treat the Refugee as if he is native born
My role at our compassion center has changed over the years. Today I’m the guy who mingles with the crowd and offers prayer and encouragement. Blessed beyond my dreams you can say. I had one of those special conversations with an older man from the Ukraine. His family came to our nation fleeing the war. He had lived most of his in western Ukraine. I asked if he was getting all he needed from our pantry. He said yes, but red cabbage would be nice. He then tearfully smiled. And said, your church has helped us adjust to the new country. He said our folks are kind and generous. Sweet words that choked both of us up…
Scripture reminds us that we are to make way for the foreigner (refugee). Along with widows and orphans. And those who are hurting. I encourage you tonight to ask God to show you how much of blessing it is to love others as Christ loved us. The difference we make together changes the world
Duet 10: 18 He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the foreigner residing among you, giving them food and clothing. 19 And you are to love those who are foreigners, for you yourselves were foreigners in Egypt. 20 Fear the Lord your God and serve him. Hold fast to him and take your oaths in his name.
