The past few weeks, college students have been meeting up and going over the Biblical teachings concerning angels, demons, exorcism, and possession. If something like this would be an interest to you, reach out to join us. We have been meetings on U of A campus around 6pm on wednesdays.

This last Friday, a few of the LCMS students from U of A met together at “Fox in a Box” to participate in a couple of escape rooms. The younger students were close to finishing their room, but just ran out of time at the end. The older group, on the other hand, finished with time to spare.

Granted, the youngers had a much harder room, but the proper way to solve this is to go back another time and switch rooms, stay tuned if you want to be a part of the team next time.

Afterwards the LCMS-U went over to Little Anthony’s to share a table together and sing along with the Elvis Presley impersonator.

This upcoming month we plan to meet together at Faith for food and fellowship again, and then later in the month…. Paintball?

Fellowship Friday at Faith (Oct 17th) 6pm
We are getting together for another fellowship night for college students. The 2 Pastor Wirtz’s will host the group at Faith Lutheran Church this upcoming Friday, October 17th. There will be food, a brief period of worship, and some time to hang out, talk, and unwind.

If a Barbeque can be secured, we’ll do a little grilling, otherwise we’ll find a nearby restaurant to provide the food. Pastor Wirtz the Lesser will be bringing a Nintendo Switch and enough gamecube controllers for the students to lose to him at Super Smash.

Feel free to bring any stump-the-pastor type questions as we will have time for that as well. Looking forward to seeing you guys then!

On October 1st, both Reverend Wirtz’s showed up along with a handful of students for the latest LCMS-U event. Just starting out slow to figure out future events we kept it simple with a few pounds of Barbeque from a local restaurant, Evening Prayer, fellowship, and a test run of a Bible trivia challenge.

The food was a big hit while the trivia challenge looks like it might be just hard enough to offer a gift card prize to the winning team. Wednesday Evening was a challenge for a few people to make, so going forward Friday evening might be a better fit for more schedules.

On that note, those in contact with Vicar Sam are reminded that they are welcome over to his apartment this Friday, October 3rd in the evening for fun, food, and fellowship as well.

Stay tuned for future events as we figure out the best way to stay in touch and grow in the faith together!

It's official, Rev Zill has accepted a call up to Payson in Northern Arizona, and now it's time for Rev Wirtz to figure out how to do this thing. Likewise, as a way to figure out better communication, I'm going to be looking into setting up an LCMSU discord server that can hopefully extend to and connect with other chapters around the US, as well as current, prospective, and former students, maybe even a few pastors. It should be a place for coordination, fellowship, sharing of hobbies, discussion of ideas, and growing together in Christ.... now I just have to find someone with experience running discord servers.

In the meantime, stand by for group texts or emails as I figure out the best way to communicate.

Last Sunday the Arizona Lutheran Campus Ministry Society (ALCMS) put on a Mission Festival/Fundraiser Event at Peace in the Valley Lutheran Church in Benson, AZ. Pastor Zill preached and taught Bible Class and then a Thank You BBQ (Brats/Burgers, the whole bit) was served by the members of the ALCMS.

Thanks to ALCMS Board members Amy Tilley (Ascension-Tucson), Amanda Gluski (Fountain of Life-Tucson), Rev. Ron York (PITV-Benson), Ryan Kinney and Dave Seng (Catalina), Bernie Gordon (Risen Savior-Green Valley), Kim Dill Fenderson (Faith-Tucson), and Rev. Isaac Wirtz (Mt. Olive-Tucson) who all participated and/or provided food.

Many thanks also to everyone at Peace in the Valley for their ongoing support of our campus ministry at the University of Arizona!

Is your church jealous? Well, we may still be recovering from this event for a while, and we can't do such things all the time, but someday we might be open to doing likewise at other area churches. It is absolutely wonderful to visit your congregations and directly show our appreciation for your partnership in our campus ministry efforts!
