May our practice of turning inward this Rohatsu, wherever we are, be deep like the snow and still like the trees; and may our efforts transform suffering and distress, bring ease and joy, and truly benefit all beings_/\_

Thank YOU to everyone that has contributed to our ! So many generous gifts have come in today. Each dollar you have contributed will make a difference! There is still time ...🙏

This photo is of the nearly full moon over the Temple Memorial Garden, just behind our main altar. The moon shining down on the snow blanketing the earth and the deep Rohatsu Sesshin practice. May the generosity of our practice, in all its forms, bring ease and harmony in all directions🙏

Inclement Weather and Emergency Closing Guidelines:
Your safety and that of everyone staffing, attending, and visiting the temple is our primary concern during hazardous weather and other emergency situations such as power outages.

If Lucas County, OH has declared a level 2 or 3 snow emergency, the temple will be closed. These declared emergencies refer only to snow and the temple may close where other weather-related conditions have resulted in hazardous roads. Keep in mind that weather conditions may be more or less severe where you live, so please use your best judgment when deciding to travel.

While we strive to communicate any closure at least two hours in advance of a temple event, conditions are sometimes such that this is not possible. This is especially true in the case of power outages, localized summer storms, and facility issues.

Notice of closure is communicated via email, the temple website, and the temple’s main and members’ pages. Additionally, for snow emergencies the local Toledo news channels are notified.

Winter brings more stillness, and like the trees that surround the Zendo, we root more deeply, preparing for the growth of spring.

May you have comfort, ease and joy this winter season and may our practice of generosity benefit all beings_/\_

In this sincere message from Abbot Rinsen Roshi, he speaks on Giving from the Heart/Dana Paramita and asks each of us to be generous with our practice. How will you take this up?

How to get to temple on marathon Sunday (4/27/25):
The annual Mercy Health Glass City Marathon will take place the morning of Sunday, April 27. The official communication (link below) from the marathon organizers states that:
Bancroft Road will be closed between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.
Richards Road will be closed to Northbound traffic from Dorr from 7:15 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

However, the temple has been assured by race organizers that, while there will be a road sign stating the Richards is closed at Dorr, there are no officers assigned and temple attendees can actually turn onto Richards from Dorr with no problem. For those living north of Bancroft, consult the linked map to figure out how to get to Dorr without running into road closures.

Rest assured that all programming on Sunday, 4/27, will be offered in person and remotely to ensure that everyone can participate.

What an excellent opportunity to practice patience and sympathetic joy, while also planning to leave for temple a little early!

Mercy Health Glass City Marathon is Toledo, Ohio's premier road running race. A flat, fast, first-timer & PR friendly, & popular Boston Marathon qualifier.
