As we gather for worship tomorrow, we hold in prayer all those affected by the gun violence at the Old West End Festival.

We join our neighbors at Trinity Episcopal Church in grieving this tragedy and praying for healing for the injured, comfort for those who are afraid, and strength for all who seek peace in our city.

May God's Spirit bring hope where there is fear and life where there is harm.

Today 30 members of the Trinity community were delighted to join in the parade to celebrate our community at the Old West End Fest.

This evening, we are saddened to learn that this joy has been interrupted by gun violence.

This must end.

Tomorrow we will be marking our annual Gun Violence Awareness Sunday. This is why we still wear orange. Gun violence is still too common in our communities.

We pray for all victims of gun violence and for an end to this madness.

Almighty and everlasting God, you have given to us your servants grace, by the confession of a true faith, to acknowledge the glory of the eternal Trinity, and in the power of your divine Majesty to worship the Unity: Keep us steadfast in this faith and worship, and bring us at last to see you in your one and eternal glory, O Father; who with the Son and the Holy Spirit live and reign, one God, for ever and ever.
