Lazarus is a trained LCC K-9 Comfort Dog for Lutheran Church Charities. He serves every day in the community in which he is placed and is deployed in times of disaster and crisis to bring comfort to all those affected, including first responders and the volunteers who serve them. Lazarus is a friend who brings a calming influence and allows people to open up their hearts and receive help for what is affecting them. Comfort Dogs are available to visit your church or group.

Last weekend we celebrated the life of our dear friend and Ministry Partner, Gayle Freitag. Gayle truly reflected the love of Jesus in all she did, sharing His light through her warm smile, encouraging words, and loving heart. She was a faithful friend, and a powerful prayer warrior whose life was rooted in her faith in Christ. Gayle’s legacy will live on through her children, grandchildren and all those whose lives she touched. Gayle will be missed but, of course, we rejoice in knowing that she is at peace in our heavenly Father’s arms. 🐾💙🐾

Please join me in prayer for this grieving community. ❤️ They welcomed us with such kindness and open hearts, even in the midst of their sorrow. I hope our presence helped in some small way. May God surround them with His comfort, peace, and love. 🐾💙🐾

Erie, PA, we are on our way.

Last week, a devastating act of domestic violence in Erie took the lives of eight innocent people, including young children. Families have been shattered, lives have been taken, and a community is left grieving a tragedy that is difficult to comprehend.

Tomorrow, Lutheran Church Charities is deploying to Erie, Pennsylvania, to bring the love of Jesus to those hurting.

Eight LCC Hearts of Mercy & Compassion will be placed in memory of each life lost, standing as reminders that these lives are precious to God and will not be forgotten. They will also serve as a reminder to the Erie community that they are not alone in their grief and that they are surrounded by prayers and the love of Christ.

Our LCC Hearts of Mercy & Compassion and K-9 Comfort Dog teams, Lazarus, Damasus, and Jared, will spend time with first responders who have witnessed the horrors of this tragedy and have been serving others through it. We want them to know that someone is thinking of them, praying for them, and caring for them, too.

As our teams spend time throughout the community, we pray that each conversation, each listening ear, and each comforting presence will help people feel the love of Jesus in the midst of so much pain.

Please join us in praying for Erie. Pray for the families who are grieving, for all those affected by this tragedy, and for our teams as they go to serve with the love of Christ.

Last Sunday I joined Damascus Comfort Dog at St. Paul Luth Church & School for their annual “tailgate” service! I had a great time watching people in their favorite team attire. I smelled hot dogs and pancakes along with a variety of smells from the trunks of cars. What a strange way to serve food, but everyone seemed to have fun with it! Before the service began there were Co****le games and lots of footballs being tossed around. That was really tempting since balls are my favorites!! It was a great service! God is good! 🐾💙🐾

Last week I met these amazing ladies at the Oncology Department at UTMC. They “see” their patients and make them feel loved and recognized; so important for those with cancer. And of course they were so happy to see me! I love to give back to those who give so much to others!! 🐾💙🐾
