“To their fellow monks they show the pure love of brothers; to God, loving fear; to their abbot, unfeigned and humble love.” – Rule of St. Benedict, Chapter 72

Way, way beyond, beyond cool
You ease along at your own pace
Letting life come to you
Living your life according to the Rule
Each day a gift, gift received
And given back to the Giver of all good things
That crooked smile and all the while
Those eyes, oh those eyes ALIVE
Forever young and fired, fired
By the soul of Ireland
By the soul of Ireland

Fr. Laurence’s Weekly Reflection:

The Lord sent out the Twelve to cast out unclean spirits, which they did, but they did something else first, they “preached repentance.”

They had learned from the Lord that receiving the Lord’s healing required first a submission to him as Lord, recognizing that they were part of a sinful race that had not acknowledged God’s lordship—all those attributes that David praises in the response to the first reading, his grandeur and power, majesty, splendor, and glory.

It’s by submitting ourselves to the divine grandeur in Jesus that we find a share in the riches and honor, power and might, grandeur and strength that he gives to all.
