This community is to gather and learn about Christ with the members of the Springfield South Stake.

Though this is not an official page of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, it is approved by the Springfield South Stake President and managed by the Stake Communications Council. The Springfield South Stake includes the following congregations: Branson Bee Creek Ward, Branson Fall Creek Ward, Branson 3rd Branch (Spanish speaking), Branson West Ward, Chesterfield Ward, Greater Ozarks Young Single Adult Ward, Harrison Ward, Highlandville Ward, Nixa Ward, Ozark Ward, Republic Ward, Southern Hills Ward

"As followers of Jesus Christ, we strive to follow His example and teachings to care for those in need."

Springfield MO South Stake President Brent Johnson stated the ultimate reason why The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints along with JustServe donated 40,000 lbs of shelf stable food and household items to Least of These, Inc.

"We are thrilled to be able to support Least of These, which works tirelessly to help those in need throughout Christian County. Our hope is that this donation will bless many households throughout our community," he continued.

Angela Hudson, Director of Least of These, remarked, "This generous donation arrives at a critical time for the families we serve. Every day, we see hardworking parents, seniors on fixed incomes, veterans, and neighbors facing difficult choices between food and other basic necessities, and this support helps ensure we can continue meeting those needs with dignity and compassion."

Christian County Commissioner, Lynn Morris, was also in attendance thanking the Church for the donation.

"These scriptures symbolize a new chapter as we begin our life."

The Stake Presidency is gifting new scriptures to new members including Eduardo Platon who attends the Republic congregation. He describes what it means to him.

"Receiving these scriptures as a gift from the stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints means so much to me and my family. They symbolize a new chapter as we begin our life in Missouri—a place of new opportunities, faith, and blessings."

"We are deeply grateful for your warm welcome, your kindness, and the opportunity to worship and grow together in the gospel of Jesus Christ. May our Heavenly Father and the Holy Ghost continue to guide and bless us all."

The Springfield Missouri South Stake commemorated the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, by providing service to two of our local food pantries, Least of These in Ozark and People Helping People in Republic.

More than 2,100 pounds of food were donated to Least of These on September 10 and September 14.

“The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has been a valued, long-standing partner of Least of These,” said Michelle Lindsey, the director of Finance and Operations for Least of These. “Their commitment goes beyond generous food donations—they consistently stay connected, check in on our needs, and are willing to respond when needs arise. As an organization funded entirely through private donations and grants, partnerships like this have a tremendous impact on our food procurement budget and our ability to plan ahead to meet the growing needs of our community. We are incredibly grateful for their continued commitment and the compassion they show our neighbors facing food insecurity.”

More than 800 pounds of food were provided to People Helping People on September 16. Republic ward youth provided additional service that evening, as they sorted donated food for distribution.

“People Helping People would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for once again hosting a food drive for us,” said Emily Penrose, People Helping People board member. “Your kindness and generosity help us provide nourishing food to individuals and families in our community who are facing difficult times. Because of your support, we are able to serve more people and remind them that their community cares. Thank you for your compassion, generosity, and commitment to helping those in need. We are truly grateful for your partnership and the difference you are making in our community.”

Last month, religious leaders from various congregations across the greater Springfield area gathered for an annual interfaith breakfast hosted at the Springfield South stake center. President Spencer Kirk, first counselor in the Springfield South stake, said:

“The interfaith breakfast and the discussion on protecting religious freedom reminded me of the many common beliefs we share as an interfaith community in the greater Springfield area. As peacemakers, we focus on the shared principles and practices of other faiths and exemplify this through a genuine respect and love for our neighbors.”

A new “Friend to Friend” video for children from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints titled “The Family Is of God” will be available beginning Sunday, September 13, 2026.

The video includes messages from Elder Gérald Caussé of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, his wife, Valérie, and the new Primary General Presidency, who were sustained during April general conference and began serving on August 1st.

This broadcast for children can be used at home or in Primary to help children better understand the importance of families and how they can strengthen theirs. It can be viewed on the Gospel for Kids YouTube Channel, the Gospel Library app
