As we respond to those in our community impacted by this fire with Christlike love—opening our homes, travel trailers, second homes, and whatever resources we have to those who need a place to stay, as well as providing food and water for those who have been displaced and for those courageously fighting the fire—let’s also fall to our knees and lift our prayers to the One who has the power to stop it.
Take a few minutes to read Mark 4:35–41. We are concerned about the winds picking up this evening and potentially causing the fire to spread even further. But Mark 4 reminds us that our Savior commands the wind and the waves.
Would you take a few minutes right now to pray?
Pray that God would stop the spread of this fire.
Pray that He would stop the winds and keep them calm so that the men and women fighting this fire can get it under control.
Pray for those who have to leave their homes.
Pray for the safety and protection of every person in our community, including the firefighters and first responders.
And above all, pray that God would be glorified through all of this.
Let’s all call out to our Savior together and ask Him to work, to move, and to display His great power throughout our community.
Let’s pray and believe that our God is able.
