SCAM EMAIL ALERT!
Dear Members of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and Friends,
We want to make you aware of a scam that is currently targeting members of our congregation.
Several church members have reported receiving emails claiming to be from Pastor Jeremy Duprey asking them to contact him regarding an urgent matter or requesting assistance with a special need. These messages are fraudulent and are not being sent by Pastor Jeremy or Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
Unfortunately, scammers often impersonate pastors, church staff, and other trusted individuals in an attempt to gain personal information, money, gift cards, or other forms of assistance from unsuspecting recipients.
What You Should Do
If you receive an email, text message, or phone call that appears to be from Pastor Jeremy or another church leader and:
Requests money, gift cards, or financial assistance
Asks you to keep the request confidential
Seeks personal or financial information
Creates a sense of urgency or pressure to act immediately
Comes from an unfamiliar email address or phone number
Please do not respond, click any links, or provide any information.
Instead:
Verify the request by contacting the church office or Pastor Jeremy directly using known contact information. (Office Phone: 605-642-3715)
Delete the message or mark it as spam/phishing.
If you are unsure whether a message is legitimate, contact the church office before taking any action.
A Few General Safety Tips
Always check the sender's email address carefully, not just the display name.
Be cautious of unexpected requests, even if they appear to come from someone you know.
Never purchase gift cards or send money in response to an email request without independently verifying its authenticity.
When in doubt, contact the church office directly.
We appreciate those who have reported these fraudulent messages. Your vigilance helps protect our church family and others in the community.
