🙏 Thursday, August 27 | Memorial of St. Monica

Do you have someone you love who has fallen away from the Church?

A child. A spouse. A sibling. A friend.

Today, we turn to St. Monica and ask for her powerful intercession.

St. Monica knew the heartbreak of watching those she loved stray from the faith. Her husband was a pagan, and her son, Augustine, wandered far from the Christian life she had taught him. But Monica never stopped praying. Through years of tears, patience, sacrifice, and unwavering faith, she continued to entrust them to God.

She lived to see both her husband and her son come to faith. Her son would go on to become St. Augustine—one of the greatest saints and Doctors of the Church.

For all those who carry the weight of a loved one's absence from the Church, St. Monica reminds us: never stop praying. Never lose hope. God is still at work.

St. Monica, faithful mother and woman of persistent prayer, intercede for our loved ones who have wandered from the Church. Pray that their hearts may be opened to Christ, that they may encounter His mercy, and that they may one day return home to the fullness of His Church. Amen.

🙏 St. Monica, pray for us—and pray for those we love.

👑 Queen of Heaven & Earth

Saturday, August 22 | The Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Eight days after celebrating Mary's Assumption into Heaven, the Church celebrates her Queenship. Mary is Queen because her Divine Son is King. Yet her reign is not one of worldly power—it is merciful, maternal, and always leads us closer to Jesus.

Pope Pius XII established this feast so that we might more clearly recognize and more devoutly honor "the merciful and maternal sway of the Mother of God.”

As we celebrate our Blessed Mother's Queenship, we are reminded that Mary never points to herself. ✝She always leads us to her Son.✝

💙 **What better time to draw closer to Mary?**

Our Marian Consecration classes begin Sunday, August 30 at 9:00 AM and conclude on Wednesday, October 7, with Mass on the Feast of Our Lady of Victory (also known as Our Lady of the Rosar)y.

Join us as we prepare to entrust ourselves more fully to Jesus through the loving guidance and intercession of His Mother.

Transform Your Heart: What Are You Holding On To?

"God doesn’t want a partial gift of you... God wants you all."

Have you ever felt that subtle sadness or hesitation when realizing what it truly means to follow Jesus? In a recent homily at the Newman Center, Fr. Kevin reminded us that Jesus doesn't ask to just be another addition to our busy lives, our possessions, or our comfort. He asks for our whole heart.

Passing through the "eye of the needle" means unburdening ourselves of the things we hold onto for a false sense of security—our wealth, our independence, our control—and letting God possess us entirely.

Just like the elements of the Mass—the candles that burn down to completion, the incense consumed in prayer, the bread broken, and the wine poured out—we are called to give ourselves completely.

✝️ Are you searching for deeper truth, exploring the Catholic faith, or looking to complete your Sacraments?

Join us for OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults) starting September 9th! Whether you are unbaptized, coming from another faith tradition, or a Catholic seeking Confirmation, you are warmly invited to come as you are.

📍 Where: St. Joseph Catholic Church (serving St. Joseph, Belle Fourche St Paul Catholic Church and JacketCatholic-BHSU Newman Center)

📅 When: Starting September 9th

Come discover the beauty, fullness, and joy of a life totally given to Christ. Send us a message or email [email protected] to learn more!
