It was a joy for me today to be at Ave Maria Parish in Parker, Colorado. My great nephew, Knox, received his first holy Communion. I was able to celebrate the Mass and share some special time with my brother and his family.

I was happy to concelebrate the dedication Mass of the new Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel at the Trinity Heights Queen of Peace Shrine in Sioux City. As Bishop Keehner still has limited mobility from surgery, I helped with sprinkling and anointing the walls. The chapel is very beautiful and it was a blessing to be a part of this wonderful event.

Once again I had the chance to take Bishop Keehner’s place as the celebrant at our jubilee Mass for priests this afternoon at St. Mary’s, Storm Lake. Congratulations to Fr. Al Reicks (50 years) and Fr. John Thomas (60 years) of priesthood.

It was a bittersweet day as we honored Margaret Fuentes today, retiring after 32 years of dedicated service to the diocese as director of employee benefits (including clergy). She has been a tremendous help, especially to all of the retired priests. She gives each one of us personal care and support to help answer all our questions. She’s done that that for a long time and we are very grateful. God bless Margaret on her retirement, well deserved.

Wonderful Mass today to celebrate the 100 year anniversary of the dedication of Saint Joseph Church in Salix. I was happy to substitute for a recovering Bishop Keehner. A beautiful church and parish community. I also blessed the repaired bell in the reconstructed bell tower. Congratulations on this milestone.

Also, happy birthday today to Father Bruce Lawler, a former pastor who concelebrated the Mass with us.

Thank you Father Shinoj Jose and your faithful parishioners and friends for your hospitality.

Once again, I had the privilege of being a part of Divine Mercy Sunday, sponsored by Trinity Heights and held at St. Michael’s Church in Sioux City, part of Holy Cross Parish. Thank you to Terry Hegerty and Father Randy Schon for making this such a special occasion. Blessings to all on this Divine Mercy Sunday.
Jesus, I trust in you.

Once again, I had the privilege to celebrate Easter Mass with our Carmelite Nuns here in Sioux City. After Mass, we were able to have a wonderful breakfast together.
We are so blessed to have these prayerful women among us.
May the Risen Lord continue to bless us all!
