Act for Creation, week of June 7th
Microplastics—plastic pieces smaller than 5mm—are ubiquitous on beaches globally, acting as major sinks for pollution from textiles, fishing gear, and degraded debris. They can alter the nesting environments of sea turtles, increasing humidity and affecting egg survival. They are ingested by shorebirds and marine animals, leading to potential starvation, starvation-like effects, and chemical exposure.
