Dear Parishioners of Our Lady of Perpetual Help,
Grace and peace to you all from our Lord Jesus Christ.
As many of you may have heard through the grapevine or official announcements, I am writing to share some bittersweet news directly with you, the community of Growing Disciples of Our Lady of Perpetual Help.
After much prayer and discernment, Bishop John Dolan has assigned me to a new role as the Diocesan Vicar for Priestly Life and Ministry within the Diocese of Phoenix. This transition marks the end of my time as your pastor here at Our Lady of Perpetual Help after more than 13 wonderful years. My last Sunday with you will be June 28, 2026, and I ask for your prayers as I prepare for this next chapter in service to the Church.
Over these 13 years, we have journeyed together in faith, celebrating the sacraments that nourish our souls, teaching the timeless truths of our Catholic faith, and sanctifying our community through acts of faith, hope and love.
From joyful baptisms and weddings to moments of consolation in times of sorrow, it has been a profound privilege to walk this path with you.
I have been deeply honored to serve as your pastor, guiding and being guided by the Holy Spirit that has animated this parish family.
Our Lady of Perpetual Help will always hold a special place in my heart. The memories we have created—the laughter in our school & courtyard, the prayers lifted in our beautiful church, and the bonds forged through shared mission—will sustain me as I continue with this new assignment given to me. Know that I carry each of you in my prayers, and I encourage you to remain steadfast in your devotion to Mary, our Perpetual Help, who intercedes for us all.
In the coming weeks, we will share more details about the transition and the arrival of your new pastor, Fr. Tony Okolo and new parochial vicar, "Soon to be" Fr. Nathan Blanchard. Until then, let us give thanks to God for the blessings of the past and look forward with hope to the future.
With deepest gratitude and enduring affection in Christ,
Fr. Greg Schlarb
