Welcome to the Shepherd's Closet! The Shepherd's Closet began as a messy little area of a garage in the Southwest, filled with "treasures", raw materials and unfinished resources. These things came from many places and had one thing in common: they were helpful to catechists preparing Catechesis of the Good Shepherd atrium materials for children, ages 3-12. ad with great enthusiasm in Arizona. Catechists who met in formation courses got together to make materials; share tools, wood, paint, and techniques; and in the process, discovered the mysteries and lessons that come with the discipline of materials-making. So many adventures and stories! So many challenging moments! And, ultimately-the unspeakable joy of working with the child in "the atrium". No matter how many materials were made and taken to places on the atrium shelf, there were always treasures left to be carried off to the garage shelves, for "next time". Like the loaves and fishes, the shelves somehow remain filled with wood and supplies. New things arrive, too. Things from this messy garage went to far away places, such as Magadan in Siberia, Ireland and Germany as well as many places all over the USA. Donations would come in to help provide things for others. With care and collaboration, the national board approved the work of that messy garage and called it by name, the Shepherd's Closet. The work that began in that garage has now moved to the National Office of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd in Scottsdale, AZ. This website hopes to make finding us and seeing what we have a little easier. Our greatest hope is to help make the atrium more accessible to children everywhere.
