Rivers of Hope Ministries

Rivers of Hope Ministries share the love of Christ and spread hope by providing material support to people in need across the world Romans 15:13

We are Rivers of Hope Ministries, an outreach ministry and food pantry based in the Medical Center area of San Antonio, TX. Our mission is to share the love of Christ and spread hope by providing material support to people in need across the world. As a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization, our long-term vision is to offer not only food, but clothing, basic necessities, shelter, financial assistance,

child care, transportation, and more—both in San Antonio and in additional locations worldwide. Our heart is to show the love of Christ and remind every person that they are not alone. As the Church, we are called to come together and walk alongside our neighbors in their time of need. We cannot do this without the support of our community. We are always accepting food donations, hygiene items, and Bibles to distribute to those we serve. Every donation makes a difference, and we are deeply grateful for your generosity. 💜🎉 **YOU DID IT — WE’RE ALMOST THERE!** 🎉💜

We asked for help, and once again, our AMAZING community showed up! 🥹

Because of your donations and generosity, we have now been able to purchase:

✅ **Vehicle Hang Tags** — PURCHASED!
✅ **Wet Erase Markers** — PURCHASED!
✅ **Walkie-Talkies** — PURCHASED! 📻

These supplies are going to make such a difference at our next H.O.P.E. Food Pantry distribution! They will help us better organize traffic, communicate between our teams, and keep everything moving as safely and efficiently as possible.

To EVERYONE who donated — whether it was $1, purchased an item, shared our post, or helped spread the word — **THANK YOU!** 💜

Every single gift helped us get here.

🦺 **WE HAVE JUST ONE NEED LEFT: SAFETY VESTS!**

Our parking lot volunteers spend distribution morning helping direct vehicles and keep traffic moving. With so many vehicles coming through, we want our HOPE’s Heroes to be highly visible and, most importantly, **SAFE**.

If you would like to help us cross this FINAL item off our list, the safety vests are still available on our Amazon Wish List:

We started with FOUR needs, and because of YOU, we are down to **ONE!** 🙌

Can we get those safety vests crossed off the list before our **September 12th distribution?** 🦺💜

Thank you for believing in our mission, supporting our volunteers, and helping us continue to improve the way we serve our neighbors.

🚨💜 **SAN ANTONIO — WE NEED YOUR HELP BEFORE OCTOBER 17!** 💜🚨

Our H.O.P.E. Food Pantry has an immediate need that will help us safely provide even more food to families in our community.

🧊 **WE NEED A REFRIGERATOR AND/OR FREEZER!** 🧊

As our pantry continues to grow, so does our need for cold storage. Additional refrigerator and freezer space means we can safely accept and store more **meat, dairy, frozen foods, produce and other perishable donations** instead of having to turn food away simply because we don't have room to keep it cold.

Our goal is to have additional cold storage in place **by October 17th.** 💜

💜 **DO YOU HAVE ONE TO DONATE?**

If you have a refrigerator, upright freezer or chest freezer in **good working condition** that you no longer need, we would be incredibly grateful! Maybe you're upgrading, have an extra one sitting in the garage, or know a business, church or individual who might have one available.

🧡 **DON'T HAVE A FRIDGE OR FREEZER? YOU CAN STILL HELP!**

**Would you consider donating even $1 toward helping us purchase one?**

It doesn't take one person giving hundreds of dollars.

It takes a community of people each saying, **“I can help a little.”** 💜

$1, $5, $10—it all adds up. If enough of us come together, those small gifts can become a refrigerator or freezer that will help us feed families **month after month.**

👉 **Please see the attached GIVE image for all the ways you can donate to Rivers of Hope Ministries.**

And if you're unable to give right now, you can still make a HUGE difference:

Someone you know may have exactly what we're looking for.

Every additional refrigerator or freezer means **more food we can accept, more food we can rescue, less food going to waste, and more food going home with families who need it.** 🥩🥛🥦🧀

🚨 **WE NEED YOUR HELP BEFORE SEPTEMBER 12TH!** 🚨

Our next H.O.P.E. Food Pantry distribution is coming up **Saturday, September 12th**, and we are working hard behind the scenes to make distribution day **safer, smoother, and more efficient** for the families we serve AND our incredible HOPE’s Heroes who volunteer. 💜

But we need a few important supplies to make it happen — and we could really use our community’s help purchasing them!

💵 **CAN YOU CHIP IN JUST $1?**

Seriously — even $1 helps! When our community comes together, those small gifts add up quickly and can make a BIG difference.
(see the ways to donate in the image)

🛒 **Prefer to purchase an item directly?**
We’ve added everything we need to our Amazon Wish List so you can purchase an item and have it sent directly to us:

🎯 **OUR MOST URGENT NEEDS — IN PRIORITY ORDER:**

🚗 ** #1 — VEHICLE HANG TAGS IN 3 COLORS**
These will allow us to number vehicles AND color-code them during distribution, helping us keep hundreds of moving pieces organized.

✍️ ** #2 — WET ERASE MARKERS**
We’ll use these to write numbers on the vehicle hang tags. At the end of distribution, we can wipe them clean and **reuse the tags month after month!**

📻 ** #3 — WALKIE-TALKIES**
Communication is critical! These will allow our parking, registration, traffic, and food distribution teams to communicate quickly without volunteers having to run back and forth across the property.

🦺 ** #4 — PARKING ATTENDANT SAFETY VESTS**
Our volunteers work throughout the parking lot directing vehicles, and we want them to be **highly visible and safe** while serving.

These may not be the most exciting items on a wish list, but they are tools that can make a **HUGE difference** in how safely and efficiently we serve our community. ❤️

Every **$1 donated**, every **item purchased**, and every **share of this post** gets us one step closer to being ready for September 12th.

🙏 **Will you help us get there?**

Together, we can create a distribution experience that is organized, safe, efficient, and filled with the compassion, dignity, and HOPE every family deserves.

💜 SOMETIMES GOD BRINGS PEOPLE INTO YOUR LIFE AND YOU JUST KNOW IT WASN’T BY ACCIDENT. 💜

That is exactly how we feel about Amber Gallagher, her husband Jacob, and our friends at Communion Chapel.

From the moment we met Amber, there was something so genuine about her. She has a heart for people that you don’t just hear in her words—you see it in the way she serves, the way she loves, and the way she pours into the children and families around her.

We truly believe God knew exactly what He was doing when He brought Amber, Jacob, and Communion Chapel into our lives. ❤️

Recently, Rivers of Hope Ministries had the privilege of being a small part of Communion Chapel’s Feed & Read Program, a program that invests in children by helping nourish both their bodies and their minds.

As the children celebrated graduating from the program, we were blessed to provide 25 backpacks filled with school supplies to help send them into their next chapter prepared and encouraged. 🎒✏️📚

But for us, this was about so much more than backpacks and school supplies.

It was about celebrating these kids and reminding them that their community believes in them. It was about organizations coming together instead of working separately. And most importantly, it was another beautiful reminder of what can happen when God connects people who share a heart for serving others.

Amber, we hope you know how special you are. Your heart is genuine, your love for your community is evident, and the work you are doing matters. We are incredibly grateful that what began as a connection has grown into a friendship and partnership that we treasure.

To Amber, Jacob, and everyone at Communion Chapel—thank you for allowing Rivers of Hope Ministries to be part of what God is doing through you.

We have a feeling this is only the beginning. 💜

Together WE CAN change the world!

💜 **OUR PANTRY IS EMPTY — AND FAMILIES ARE STILL ASKING FOR HELP.** 💜

After an overwhelming turnout at our last food distribution, the shelves at the **H.O.P.E. Food Pantry** are wiped out.

But the requests for help haven’t stopped.

Families are contacting Rivers of Hope Ministries needing **emergency food assistance**, and right now, we simply don't have enough food on our shelves to help them.

We do our best to connect families with other community resources when we can't meet a need—but sometimes what someone desperately needs is to hear:

**“Yes. We can help you.”**

❤️ **CAN YOU HELP US RESTOCK OUR PANTRY?**

We are asking our community—**families, churches, businesses, schools, offices, neighborhoods and organizations**—to consider organizing a **FOOD DRIVE for Rivers of Hope Ministries.**

🥫 **WE CAN ACCEPT:**
• Canned goods
• Boxed and packaged foods
• Rice, beans, pasta and cereal
• Peanut butter and pantry staples
• Snacks and kid-friendly foods
• Fresh fruits and vegetables
• Bread and baked goods
• Refrigerated and frozen foods
• **Any other perishable or non-perishable food donations**

Whether you collect **one grocery bag, one box, or an entire truckload**, it can help us put food back on our shelves and say **YES** to the next family who reaches out for help.

📦 **Want to organize a food drive?**
We would LOVE to partner with you!

💜 **SHE ISN’T ASKING SOMEONE TO FIX HER LIFE. SHE’S ASKING FOR A LITTLE HELP SO SHE CAN REBUILD IT.** 💜

Today, we are asking our community to come together for a local single mother and her two daughters, ages 12 and 15, who are walking through an incredibly difficult season.

At her request, we are keeping this family's identity completely anonymous. But we believe their story deserves to be heard.

Not long ago, life looked very different.

This mom worked, cared for her girls, and enjoyed the simple things families often take for granted—playing Checkers and Tic-Tac-Toe together, visiting parks and hiking trails, going to the movies, occasionally eating out, and simply enjoying being a family.

Four months ago, she moved into a new home with someone she believed she was building a future with. They were engaged, and she believed they would share the responsibility of providing for their household.

That relationship ended.

Suddenly, she was left trying to carry the household on her own.

Since then, one challenge has piled on top of another.

She has been actively applying for jobs and trying to get back to work, but her vehicle is leaking coolant and overheating. Even when employment opportunities arise, unreliable transportation—and sometimes simply not having enough money for gas—has created another barrier between her and the stability she desperately wants.

Meanwhile, the bills haven't stopped.

She is now approximately **$1,800 behind on rent.**

There are days when there isn't enough food in the home.

They don't have a refrigerator.

Her daughters need beds.

Their home still needs basic furniture and household necessities.

And one of the hardest things for this mother to admit was that **school has become important to her daughters for more than their education—it also means they know they will have something to eat.**

She told us:

*"It's embarrassing to say, but that's our reality."*

Yet throughout everything she shared with us, one message came through again and again:

**She wants to work. She wants to provide for her children. She wants to rebuild.**

She isn't asking anyone to fix her entire life.

She's asking for help getting over the obstacles standing between her family and stability.

She wants to catch up on her rent, repair her vehicle, find dependable employment, put food in her home, give her daughters comfortable places to sleep, and eventually build an emergency fund so her family is no longer one crisis away from losing everything.

And perhaps the request that touched our hearts the most wasn't financial at all.

This mom asked whether people might send **encouraging cards or handwritten notes for her and her daughters.**

Because right now, she says they need HOPE just as much as they need material things.

💜 **OUR COMMUNITY CAN BE THAT HOPE.**

Here are some of the ways this family could use our help:

🏠 **$1,800 toward past-due rent**
🥫 Groceries and food
🚗 Vehicle repair/mechanical assistance
⛽ Gas cards/transportation assistance
🧊 Refrigerator
🛏️ Beds for her two daughters
🛏️ Bed for Mom
🛋️ Couch
👕 Dressers
🧹 Cleaning supplies and basic household necessities
💼 Employment opportunities or connections
💌 Encouraging cards and handwritten notes for Mom and her girls
🙏 And, of course, prayers

Maybe you can't provide a refrigerator.

Maybe you can't pay $1,800 in rent.

**That's okay.**

Ten people can do what one person cannot.

Fifty people can do even more.

A $5 gift can help put gas in her car.

A $10 gift can help put food on the table.

Someone may have a gently used dresser sitting in a spare room.

Someone may know a mechanic willing to help.

Someone may know an employer who is hiring.

And someone reading this may simply sit down tonight and write this mom or her two teenage girls a note reminding them that **this difficult chapter is not the end of their story.**

💌 **WANT TO SEND SOME HOPE?**

Words of encouragement, cards, and handwritten notes for Mom and her girls can be mailed to:

**Rivers of Hope Ministries**
**PO Box 40064**
**San Antonio, TX 78229**

Please write **“Family of Hope”** on the envelope so we know who your card is intended for.

A few encouraging words may seem like a small gesture, but to a family walking through a season like this, knowing that someone is thinking about them, praying for them, and believing in their future can mean more than you know. 💜

Every act of kindness matters.

At Rivers of Hope Ministries, we believe community means showing up for one another during the seasons when carrying everything alone becomes too heavy.

This family doesn't need judgment.

They need a hand reaching back.

**Together, let's help this mom get back on her feet—and remind two young girls that there is an entire community rooting for them.** 💜

If you would like to help this family, please comment, message Rivers of Hope Ministries, or donate and designate your gift **“Family of Hope.”**

Please SHARE their story. You never know who in your circle may be able to meet one of these needs.

🙏 Pray.
💜 Give.
📲 Share.
💌 Encourage.
